Well I started Met yesterday , I am on 2 tablets a day. Yesterday I was fine but this morning I have woken up with a severe headache and am starting to feel a bit nauseas. I really didn't want to come into work this morning. One cos I feel so sick and two cos I am not keen on my job anyway. ( but thats another story)
I had a few sips of peppermint tea and a small bowl of muesli.
Anyway I will see how it goes, hope I don't suffer with too many side effects
If you just started and are taking two tablets a day can I assume you started at 1000mg or more? If so you may want to consder working up to that dose first. My doc started me on 500mg for a week and then I went up to the 1000mg. That bump caused me some problems, but I can only imagine what it would have been like if I started at 1000mg. I have been on it for about 4 months now and feel fine. Talk to your doctor before you change anything, but starting out slow seems to help your body adjust and has worked for many people.
I hope you feel better soon.
Jen

I hope that you feel better soon. I was on 1000 mg one week before I started feeling better from s/e. Next week I will be increasing to 1500 mg. Once my body adjusted I felt better. I hope the same for you.

well its been 6 days now since I started Met.So far no major changes or side effects. Yesterday I did feel quite sick through the day. I have also been a bit headachey but I have been quite stressed in general the last few weeks so it could be casue of that.
I can't remember how much it is I am taking I will check and let you know.
Make sure you are taking a good B vitamin. When I first started taking Met, I was having bad headaches almost everyday . Then I read on here that Met depletes B12 (I think). Once I started taking a combo of B6, B12 and folic acid the headaches stopped. Now I take B50 complex and it works much better. HTH

I agree..talk to your Dr about dosing up SLOWLY. The other thing I noticed in your post was that you felt sick and had a little tea and meusli. Try not to eat a carb by itself like that. It will make you feel worse. straight carb with spike your insulin and give you bigger side effects and counter-act the drug.
Eat lots of small, high protien snacks every 2 or 3 hours to keep your sugars up and you will feel better.
Good luck!

Any no sugar added milk products, milk, cheese strings, cottage cheese etc., Lean meats (like chicken or lean turkey), eggs, veggie protiens like nuts, dried beans, peas, lentils, etc. They calm the effect of carb on your blood sugar and insulin when you eat them with carbs.

My Dr put me on 1500mg of Met in Aug. The first Week was horrible (no appetite nauseous never mind the bathroom breaks lol) The point is It's the end of Nov I no longer have to take my Met with food,My appetite has somewhat returned (though not to what it was) and the only side effect I have is bathroom breaks which still happen frequently..but if I get "p" It will all be worth it...best wishes to all....
I've found that if I'm not eating some protein every few hours that I will develop a headache. I've also found that either because my hormones are getting back into check or because of the met I'm really touchy with foods too. I don't have any bad side effects except for headaches and they'll come on fast if I'm not careful with what I eat. I have also found that eating some protein with anything carbs helps this as well. Good luck..it sounds like met might work for you especially if you haven't had too many side effects starting at 1000 mgs.

I do eat carbs..I follow the IR diet which allows 30g of carb every 2 hours with 15 g protien. If we eat more than 30g carb, our insulin will spike and it causes hormone issues and weight gain. The protien doesn't affect blood sugar and lowers the glycemic index of cards, so that it why you blend the two. If I'm still hungry in that 2 hour window I have more protien.
I do eat yogurt, but it has to be no sugar added yogurt or I have to add in the sugar carbs. Milk carbs don't affect insulin, but sugar ones do.
