It depends on your own situation, Suzie. Some ladies once they lose the weight can keep their hormones in line with just lifestyle...others cannot. So it's a matter of your own history and situation as to how your Dr responds.
My own physician would like for me to remain on it permanently because my insulin and hormone problems began way back when I was a teenager and my family history is just awful. IR can be independant of weight and I battled for years without success to keep my hormones in line. Now that I have found the diet, exercise and meds that'll do the trick, I plan to not change what's working.
It sounds like your symptoms get exacerbated when you lower the gluc, so you may be a candidate it long term...I would have a heart to heart with your new Dr and see what he/she thinks.
