Points: 10,094.78 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 10,094.78 | metformin and milk I am back on metformin again and once again have the same craving- milk.
Normally I HATE HATE HATE milk to the point that I can't even drink it in tea, and if I do drink any milk I feel nauseus.
But once again on metformin I find myself not only able to drink tea but craving pints of ice cold milk. I'd also like to dip a chocie biscuit in it and I am not one for biscuits either.
I don't have any digestive problems with the met so it can't be a stomach acid thing. I just don't get how metformin makes it possible for me to tolerate milk.
Wierd stuff this PCOS eh? |

In the mean time, enjoy the extra calcium..it's good for your bones, anyway.

Thinking about it off met I get a lot of my protein from fish (and probably my calcium too, cos I eat tinned soft bony fish).
On met tinned fish is just waaaay to ick to even think about eating.
I will have to find some milks I like. Even though I crave it I only crave certain types! |

As for food aversions, wow - I hear you there! I still can't stand anything hazelnut (used to love it) not pistachios (used to love them!). But I am craving peanut butter like mad - I could finish the container - licked clean and all. I don't and won't... but I want to. Tell me that's not gross!

Points: 2,419.06 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,419.06 | That happened to me too...I wanted to drink milk all the time. I drank it every time I took Met and never had any nausea.
I was a Dr. Pepper addict before I started Met....for decades if I didn't have a glass of iced tea in my hands then I had a DP. Now I cannot stand Dr. Pepper! Have not had one in who knows how long and don't think I'll ever drink one again if Met is something I'll always be taking. People cannot believe I really don't touch them anymore.
It's done the same thing for sweets, especially ice cream. I couldn't pass up any opportunity for chocolate ice cream. My husband could not understand how someone could eat so much of it. Since being on Met I cannot remember the last time I had any or wanted any. Met changed my tastes in ways I would never have imagined. |
