Points: 671.80 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 671.80 | Metformin not working anymore :( When I first started Metformin I lost 40 lbs over the course of a year. I got pregnant and gained 15 lbs (my daughter was a preemie). After her birth I started back on Met and lost the 15 lbs. Everything was great until October 07. All the sudden the sugar cravings seemed to come back and my weight started creeping up until I had gained my 40 lbs back again. I saw a new Endo and he told me that since IR is a progressive disease Metformin eventually stops working. So he put me on Janumet (which hasn't given me any results either). He keeps mentioning I could try byetta (sp?) because it is supposed to cause weight loss. I am not really sure about starting shots everyday though. I am just so freakin frustrated with the whole thing....Is there anyone out there with a similar experience? |

Met worked really well for me at the beginning and still is now I guess = but I have noticed that I am putting a little bit more weight back on plus the cravings and hunger coming back and sometimes tirednesss but this normally happens more I'd say when I am not doing my LowGI diet.
I am going to start exercising more to see if this helps....
Your post scares me as I never want to go back to the old bloated fat Sarrah... I thought now on met that would never happen again... it was too good to be true it seems... but met is stiill working for me but as I said cravings coming back more... |

But I have blamed myself for it, since this new job is keeping me extremely busy, I have been eating a little unhealthy and have also been irregular with my metformin.
I have started exercising since last week. I want to work hard towards losing those 8 lbs back.

After about a yr and half of doing very well on the met, my period is irregular again, skipping- coming every 2 months/3 months and I see that I am hungrier and more prone to eating junk again.
God all i get from my doc is that you are under stress it tends to skip, etc... Please any of you ladies have your doctors tell you otherwise, increase the dose or have any better news please let me know!! |

I lost about 5 lbs last summer out of the blue, and now i've gained about 10 in the last 6 months... i never felt 'better' from the met, though my blood work looked better. I go back in May... I think it's time to do something different, it's been over 2 years now.
