I started taking met two days ago, i live in the Uk and was prescribed 2 x 850 mg a day. As yet i have had no side effects and feel ok. I am waiting with baited breath for my S/E'S to start
I have been reading the boards and have noticed a lot of negative feedback about the drug.
I was wondering what good things have people experienced on Met.
I have two kids (1st after clomid 12 years ago) 2nd unexpected not trying so i count myself lucky, but i am overweight which i can't budge so i am hoping Met will help me lose some, as i do try to follow a healthy eating plan and work out.
Any positive feedback folks would be appreciated.
Thanks x |

Did you diet to lose to weight, or was it Met alone. Met has done nothing for me as far as weight loss goes. I feel like I have gained. I try to watch my carbs, but my sweet tooth sabotages me everytime.

My Mood: Points: 9,035.80 Bank: 32.68 Total Points: 9,068.48 | i've had a few side effects, the first being nausea, but i think that's because i went straight onto 1000mg instead of working up to it (i have issues with my obgyn at the moment lol). the good side of it is that i've lost 9.5 lbs.
i've been doing weightwatchers at the same time as taking met, but i've been out to eat most weeks. i've been watching what i eat, but not being obsessive about it. i DEFINITELY see a difference in the way i'm losing weight now. before, all i had to do was eat out and i'd gain - seriously. now, i feel like i'm a normal person.
i'd recommend doing some kind of weight loss programme alongside taking meteformin.

| I agree, Mix. I was on met for over a year and my male hormones had dropped but were still about twice the normal. When I kicked my exercise up a notch (did it consistently 3-5 times a week) and started using the IR diet to manage my insulin, it was like met was a whole new drug. Within 6 months all of my hormones were normal and my periods started coming regularly.
Met can be amazing, but it tends to work better when we don't counter act the drug through diet and lower insulin with exercise. It's one peice of the puzzle.
Good luck, Shall!

Points: 687.50 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 687.50 | I just started Met today (only 250mg once a day...working up though!) and my endochrinologist said that a diet that they liked was the South Beach Diet, but that Atkins was bad news. But I am definitely hoping that the Met will help with weight loss...5 months until PROM for me!
