Metformin & Pregnancy

I was just wondering if anyone knows... If I were to start taking Metformin only days after conceiving, would Metformin still help prevent a miscarriage? Thanks!

This is my take on it, and this is just my experience.

I can't say if it will "keep" you from m/c. But let me tell you my story.

We tried for 4 years to get pg. I finally got pg in Jan. '04. I immediately stopped taking Met as soon as I found out. At 11 weeks, I m/c. Now, I have no idea if that was the reason, but I will always wonder.

I got pg again in July '04 and stayed on it through my entire pregnancy. This is usually something that you will have to decide along with your dr. There are varying thoughts on it. Many dr's will say to stay on it until 12 weeks, others will say the whole time. I know that when I get pg again, I will stay on it the whole time again.
