2.If u have than how do u know your doctor put u on it just to prevent diabetes?

Metformin is an anti-diabetic drug. If you have PCOS and/or IR, your chances of becoming a diabetic are much higher. Metformin is an isulin sensitizer and it helps your body metabolize carbohydrates better. This is why it is used to prevent diabetes. But it should be used in addition to diet and exercise.
