Default metformin, progesterone, clomid, repronex, estriadol ovidrel?

Just wondering if anyone knows what the purpose of all of these drugs are? I am so confused. never had a period before any of this and now I seem to be having it all,. Fun fun fun.
Am really trying to have a baby. Just want an explanation, in English, not Doctor terms, as to why all of the medicine
Thanks for the replies

metformin - really a diabetic drug. Helps the body use the insulin it produces better. Is not supposed to lower blood sugar though some people do experience that. Most pcos people have an insulin resistance problem which messes up other hormones.

progesterone - 2 different uses. Used to start a period if you haven't had one in a while (bleeding starts sometime after progesterone is stopped--a few days after up to 2 weeks). Also used to support a pregnancy until the placenta takes over between 9 and 12 weeks. For the second use, be sure to start it only after ovulation because if started before, it can prevent ovulation from happening.

clomid - fertility drug (pill) used to help you ovulate

repronex - fertility drug (shot) also used to help ovulation

estriadol ovidrel - no idea on this one.

Hope this helps some.

Jennifer

Very good answers, just thought I'd add a few notes

Clomid- the pill form of fertility drugs, the cheapest drug by far works by "tricking" your brain into producing follicles (fluid filled cyst that contains the egg). Works for some people.

Repronex, Gonal-F, Follistim- the injectible fertility drugs are made from the actual hormones(LH&FSH) that ripen the follicles. They go directly to work on your ovaries and are much stronger than Clomid. These meds will work for almost everyone to at least produce good follicles.

Ovidrel, Novarel- This is injectible HCG, the same hormone your body makes when you are pregnant. But when the shot is given to a woman with mature follicles, it forces ovulation to occur

Hope this helps.
