I am not on it yet, but in the other forums, I have read about all of the side effects from being on metformin.
Stomach problems is like the number 1 problem. The longer that you take them, the problems start to decrease.
Hope this helps!
You can check out that forum with more information here http://www.soulcysters.net/metformin/
Thanks so much!

Honestly, the first week on met was brutal for me and I was already following a PCOS friendly diet before I started the medication. The thing that helped the most was taking the pills with yogurt. The carb-protein balance seemed to minimize the effects better than anything else. I've also been told taking vitamn B-12 can help with symptoms.
Bottom line, try not to eat a lot of fat or simple carbohydrates. Even if I just do that once in a while now, (after having been on met for months), it upsets my stomach. Get through the first few weeks and you'll start to feel a lot better. It's worth sticking with it.

Points: 603.73 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 603.73 | hi Erika,
It is so relieving that there are people who lend a humble ear to your problems and one of them is you... i hope youll suggest me on this one.
i was diagnosed (sonography) with PCOS in dec- 05 and started the treatment in jan(06) . initially as my exams were approaching, the the doc gave me hormone injection to get the cycle. with this i got it regular twice and it stopted again...the next time she gave me an ayurvedic medicine, again temporaily.. in August she priscribed me BCP'S which i still continue..
but wat worries me that she has not yet started metformin for me and didnt even speak of it once...she didnt even perform any physical examination, not even any insulin or blood sugar level test. should i change the doc or is it just the way the syndrome is approached????
i m depressed, sad.. i also have thick hair on chin which i need to vax after every 2 weeks. this makes me loose confidence.. i have it since last 4 year but it is actually thick this time (was negligible and unnoticeable before)...
will the problem worsen with time??? it seems as if the last few years have taken away my stamina, confidence,optimism... i dont know wat to do.. i dont have any one to talk to... im just 19 ...
