Cool Metformin rash Update, and question for those on Met and Clomid....

Hey everyone.....

First of all THANK YOU ALL for telling me that you have a rash too, or had one. Let me know that I am not alone here. The benedryl helps, but not enough for me. I did an experiment...and only took one dose of Met (850mg) one day...and the rash/itchiness was not as bad. So I think its the Met and it being so high.

I told the nurse about it today. She suggested I stop taking it, until she talked to the doctor and got back with me on Monday and to see what else they could prescribe. I dont' want to stop taking it, but I am not feeling so hot. This rash BURNS.....my skin is REALLLY REALLY DRY too....anyone else have that? Dry skin?

Ok...here is the other question. On day 14...I took an OPT and it came out postive for me. I had blood work done Thursday and when they called today, said that I DID NOT O....
why would I get such a strong LH surge if I didn't O???
For all of those on Metformin and clomid (100mg) what cycle day # do you usually O on???? Is there a chance that I can still O this month? Just getting discouraged here...seems like everything is not going my way at the moment....guess we have all been here or are going thru it now.....Guess God is trying to help me with my patience with giving me this PCOS.
Have a great weekend!!!! and Good luck to you all
Debbie

Debbie, before giving up the met please look into what I said about you possibly being allergic to the fillers (benign ingredients) in this FORMULATION of metformin. There are other formulations. The brand name, for example. Taking less of the met would also be taking less of the allergen which would also give you the results you described.

Please ask for a different formulation from your pharmacist before giving up the metformin completely.

Default ask the pharmasist?

Would the pharmasist be able to change my medications like that? They woulnd't need approval from my doctor? I know its the same thing, but just a different brand, but I am not sure if they would be allowed to do that....maybe I will call Walgreens now and find out...Thanks Shenacat.
I didn't take my dose yet today.....rash feels a little better....I almost went to the emergency room last night after making that post. It hurt so bad, and my worrying was sending me into a panic attack...DH made me take a xanax and at least it help me go to sleep....
Post again later

The pharmacist will happily change the formulation for you if you are allergic to it. You do not need doctor approval for that.

He's being difficult. Some pharmacists are dicks. He probably thinks you want a cheaper formulation.
