Hi all


I am new here and was wondering if any of you lovely ladies had this site effect from metformin.

Was diagnosed PCOS Jan this year and started 1500mg metformin from beginning Feb. Had slight metformin bum :o for couple of days but no other side effects.

However, my period started just before Christmas and have been bleeding to different degrees since (this is fairly normal for me) but since starting metformin I've had 3 really heavy episodes.

The first two both just lasted 1 night. Went to bed padded up but woke up feeling really wet, so bad that had to get up andchange the sheets, but by the morning back to being light again.

This time started Wednesday night, same thing, light during day and then sudden gush in my sleep, again getting up and changing sheets, but this has continued. Was so bad Thursday at work that was changing pads every hr to hr1/2.

Don't have any pain or anything like that

Any body else experience this?

i used to get that when my PCOS hassles were at their worst, as a teen..but not since i've been on Met.
(yeah i know..i was no help at all)

What you have said makes sense. I thought the met would help, not make it worse. My next appointment is at the end of the month so hopefully will get some more answers then.
