Question Metformin Side Effects - did you have any as you worked your way up? Any at 500mg?

I started met about a week ago, and am currently taking 500mg. I have to up my dose to 1000mg tomorrow. So far I haven't had any side effects. A little dizzyness at first. Just wondering if this is what everyone else experienced.
Did you have side effects at 500mg? Did they get much worse when you went to 1000mg?
TIA

hi
i started at 500, then went up to 1000. I was really tired at first. I find that as long as i avoid greasy/fatty/sugar foods as much as possible, and ALWAYS eat with met, im ok. all the best for tomorow

Ha ha ha.

I'm on 1500mg of Met, but I was told to start with one pill (500mg) at dinner and then work my way up to the full dose.

So, the first time I took my pill my husband and I were out to dinner. It was toward the end of the dinner and I decided to take the pill. I'd been warned of the side effects, but figured we're only 10 minutes from home, plus almost done with dinner...it can't happen that fast...Well it did! I couldn't believe it. And we were with my husband's school friends and I kept having to excuse myself from the table. I'm sure they were wondering what was going on!

But aside from the first night, I had some stomach discomfort, tiredness, nausea, but it mostly went away pretty quickly.

When I was on the 500mg I didn't experience really any s/e maybe a little bit of an upset stomach nothing I couldn't handle. I increased my dosage to 1000mg and the first week I lost 4 pounds b/c of constant diarreah, this week I'm doing much better. The only time I feel nauseous is when I have something too sugary. Other than that this week I'm good. I did experience tiredness the first week of upping my dosage and I was extremely irritable but that has sense subsided. Good Luck to you hang in there!
