I get mine from a Target pharmacy and I am on my third bottle and I noticed that this bottle smells like fish but the previous two did not. It could just be the manufacturer or the manufacturing process. I just home the next bottle does not smell. I just try not to smell the bottle when I open it.

Smelly Metformin is very common. The first time I took it was 8 yrs ago while TTC. I used to refer to it as "my stinky pill" I could even taste it on my palate and whenever I burped. The pharmacist had even warned me about it. I have taken it a couple of times since and was surprised that they didn't stink. The smell or no smell issue doesn't affect how it works.
I have a prescription for Met from back in July and it reeked to high Heaven even back then! I no longer take it now, but I know what you're talking about.
My boyfriend just about keeled over dead the first time he dared to take a whiff of the bottle.
Is this the extended release that smells? I take the XR and am about to get a refill, I was just wondering if I should be expecting fish pills!

On a slightly barely related sidenote, I had two bottles of Motrin a few years back that smelled and tasted of licorice. Uggg. I don't do licorice. None since then. Hmmmmm...

I've had bottles of it that have smelled and other bottles that just had a faint odor. Not sure why, but I assure you that mine worked fine. Hope that helps!

I stopped taking it and moved my prescription to another pharmacy that uses the one manufactured by Teva pharmaceuticals. It does not have an odor.

That is weird. I hope they didn't change their formula. I buy a 90 day supply at once so I haven't gotten it in awhile. I couldn't stand the fishy one.
