Not only do the pills stink, but they make my gas stink like pure sulphur (like a gas stove). I'm petrified that someone at work might smell me...
I stopped taking Met for a month while on bcps and now that I'm back on it I don't have the stomach upset side effects just the stink. Sheesh, the things we go through ...
Does anyone know if the XR version is less stinky?

lol! i just picked up my prescription today and that's the first thing i thought. then my husband came home (and the weirdo sniffed the bottle like me) and commented on how stinky they are. i'm glad to hear it's not just me tho-- i thought maybe i got a bad batch!
And as for the smell of the gas, it really does smell like sulphur, you are so right! Like I ate 10 hard boiled eggs for breakast. I actually accidentially passed gas in front of my colleague at work (twice too!), it was so embarrassing.
I drink lots of fennel tea, that helps me a lot. Have you tried no-gas pills? I haven't yet, but I would think that could help with the gassy side effects.
I picked up my metformin yesterday and the first thing I did was smell it because of the posts I've read.....To my surprise mine doesn't stink...It has that pill form med smell but nothing like stinky fish...Hope I don't get that batch LOL
