I have been taking 500 mg metformin 3 x a day for a month and have handled it OK. My doc just increased my dosage to 850 mg 2x a day. Last night I took my first pill and this morning woke up with a very sore jaw. Is this a common side effect? I read the paper my pharmacist gave me and did not find mention of this in side effects. I am not sure if I should take the next pill. Thanks for any response.
Now that I think about it, I used to get a sore jaw all the time when i was on Metformin. But then it could have just been coincidence that I was on Metformin whenever my wisdom teeth were aggravated. I can't really remember.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I did end up taking the next pill. My jaw continued to be sore for 2 days but now it seems OK. Maybe it was hormone related or maybe my body was adjusting to the new dosage. I did call my pharmacist and he could not find in his literature a sore jaw being a side effect of metformin. Interesting...
