When I was on metformin I think that it helped for a little while to but then I think that my body became ammuned to it. I have tottaly just stopped using it I have just started to see a specialist so I am going to see what he will be putting me on. But when my gyno put me on metformin the first time he put me on 500mg 2 x a day and some of you women are on 1500 mg I never took that high of a dosage anyway I would go off it and he would put me back on it until I finnaly told him that it was not working. Yes had that problem before it is very frustrating but hopefully we will be able to get medication straightened out that it will work for us just keep your head up and keep smiling!!! Tia

I never had a problem with the Met NOT working... It just worked too well. I was told it would help keep my sugars elevated, and it did for a while. Then it reversed somehow, and took them WAAAAY low. I ended up just having to go off of it, because it started causing severe panic attacks, and it just made things worse in the end.
I was prescribed Metformin in Feb. 06. For diabetes. After a month my AF came with hell's fury... LOL (BAD CRAMPS VERY heavy) After not having it for 2 years.
The next month.. Nothing.
Then in April I was away out of the country, and I ran out of Met. So I was off for a week.
After I started it back up, AF came back again. That was last month.
Since then, my AF was due yesterday, and all I have is discharge today, and I had cramps over the weekend.... I don't get it.
I only take one 500mg in the morning, and one in the eve. Maybe my dose isn't strong enough.
(I haven't been "officially diagnosed with PCOS. But my reg doc says I probably have it due to how my body reacted to the met. and my history.)
I actually was tested about 4 years ago. But they said I was negative for it. I had blood work, and an internal sonogram.
My doctor says that they have found that you don't have to actually have cysts to have the syndrome.
But everything that's wrong with me adds up to PCOS.
I haven't really had a chance to get to a doctor's myself. My mom has been in and out of the hospital since May, and that is when my doc told me that is probably what I have. Since then I have been really busy.
I do plan on making an appointment at a clinic near my work the specializes in this sort of thing.
I'm going to give it few more days and check again.
I've had weird cramping off and on since around the 2nd.
My AF was due on July 5th. But it's never really reliable anyway... But I was hoping. Clock ticking is getting louder... LOL
I've been craving a LOT of dairy lately.
