As I said, I've dropped a quick 20 pounds on metformin in about 7 weeks and began having a period again on my own. But so far, I don't think I'm ovulating again yet!!! It's a bummer but they want to start us on Clomid in July if I get my period again on time and on my own in June. Has anyone else gone through this process in terms of the Clomid being the ONLY way to get you to ovulate despite major weight loss?
Also, how are you wonderful gals putting a weight loss bar on the bottom of your postings? I want to post my progress as well! Can someone assist me ? |

If you scroll down just a bit you'll see 'weight loss/fitness' heading and it's the first link under that. Just fill in the info and copy the code they give you into your signature, which you can edit when you go under the User CP link at the top of the web page here.

I've been on MET for 2 months and nothing no AF. I had one day of well not even like one spot . I'm not trying to get prgnant I just want to have an AF regularly. So frustrating. If I don't get an AF in 6 weeks were do blood work to see what my hormone levels are.

I am new to this site and also just got found out I have PCOS. I have terrible migraines I can't go even a week without one. I have been over weight ever since I got my cycle at the age of 10. I was wondering how often you had migraines and if you are still doing good on the Met?
Thanks,
Tina |

I'm a lurker that's so happy to hear all of your sucess stories from Met!
I'm not IR + a normal wt. I've been off BCP's for a few years (ttc) and only have had a few AF's mostly from Provera. And I had a m/c w clomid. Should I try Met?
Thanks in advance!!! |

My Mood: Points: 4,520.71 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 4,520.71 | I have been on 1000mg Fortamet for about 2 weeks, I had a prometrium induced cycle on May 16, and another AF on June 6 on CD 19. Both cycles lasted the full 5 days like my usual cycles do, but the 2nd one was a bit heavier than the first. I hope this means the Fortamet is working in some way and am looking forward to a 28 day (or so) cycle for the month of June. My cycles before were usually around 40-60 days, and I was not ovulating at all.

I am new here and have read all the posts in this thread, and they have truly made my experience with metformin a positive one.
Just so you all know, I am clomid resistant - it did not work for me and my OB refused to put me on Metformin because my IR and blood tests were all normal. However, my RE, put me on metformin 3.5 weeks ago (500mg X 3 a day) and I can finally say that I have ovulated naturally on my own!!!!!! (This has not happened since October 06) I am so excited and am currently in the 2ww. I just wanted to share my news, so that others can be inspired and realize that there is hope out there for us suffering with PCOS.
Love and babies to you all!

I was clomid resistant too and my RE not even an OB, told me based on my normal insulin resistant tests that Met would not help at all. 4 months on it and here I am, 23 weeks PG! Good luck and Baby Dust to you!

Side effects were minimal. Not sure if this is related, but the headaches I used to get while being on BCP, stopped. My skin breakouts that flaired up after stopping BCP, slowed down after starting Met. My periods became much more regular. The first time I tried Clomid, I got a BFP! My Dr. is keeping me on Met at least up until my first trimester.

The ultrasound showed a nice big follicle in my left ovary. The Dr. told me I will ovulate in about two days. So again from NO cycle to my first ovulation in less than six weeks on Met (last year got my first ovulation after 1 month on Met, got pregnant that time).
