I got preg last cycle on metforim. After only 5 days of being so happy I started to mis-carry. I had a miscarriage. I am feeling very down and sad. Is there any thing I could of done to change things? I was on 1000mg per day. Already am up to 1250mg and please god I can reach 3 tabs without the crippling nausea xxx

In terms of the side effects of the met...how is your diet? What are you eating?

My diet is fairly good. mostly low gi food. I do love brown bread too and try to stick to two slices per day. Any more tips?

Going up shouldn't be too bad as your body is already pretty used to it. With my son I was all the way up to 2850 mg (and I'm a small person... don't recommend going that high though!). That was hard, but your body adjusts fairly quickly. Going up in small increments certainly helps. Best of luck and keep us posted.

My Mood: Points: 648.02 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 648.02 | I've been taking met for 3 months and so far not too many changes have surface. Actually a few days ago I got really discourge because I've been eating really good since I started using it and I have not lost not even 1 pound. I join Weight watchers last month hoping the combination will help and still waiting... I was reseaching online for more natural medicine because I'm 50 pounds overweight and is really bringing me down...

My Mood: Points: 103,237.97 Bank: 1,672.69 Total Points: 104,910.66 | I don't know much about weightwatchers but I know a lot of us have a lot of success using met and a low carb/good carb diet. I'm a thin cyster though so I can't be of a whole lot of help, but even when I wasn't trying to lose weight that combo made me lose weight.

Points: 15,435.99 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 15,435.99 | Brener - my tips would be ... ask your dr if you can take 1 tablet during breakfast and 2 tablets before bed so you don't experience the side effects. are you taking your tabs during a meal and not before and after? that helps.
otherwise there are tests that can be run for miscarriage to find out why. my friend has had 2 miscarriages and the dr ran tests. maybe you can enquire about that. they check your hormone levels etc.

My Mood: Points: 338.01 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 338.01 | Regarding weight loss. I am a thincyster, however, because I have PCOS, the RE recommended a low carb diet and Metformin (500 mg X 3 a day) to help me ovulate. I have been on met for about 4 weeks now and am down 7 lbs. I have pretty much elimiated all carbs, and allow myself a treat here and there - yes... I cheat occassionally - LOL. However, it has worked to help me lose those extra lbs for bikini season.
