As far as making the side effects better, have you tried drinking tons of water after taking each pill? That was one of the suggestions someone gave to me and I think it helped. I would drink a 32oz. bottle of water after each pill (was up to 2000mg so 1 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon and 2 at night). Also, just as pp's said cut back on carbs (white carbs especially) and fatty, greasy food. That's what really bothered my stomach, I couldn't eat anything fried. Never take on an empty stomach - which I'm sure you know already. But try drinking more water if you don't already and see if that helps. Good luck.
Sunsicle - That's great news! Congratulations! Sticky dust to you! I can't believe all these Met BFP's around here!

Best of luck!
And congratulations Sunsicle! |

My Mood: Points: 463.01 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 463.01 | Hi Everyone
Thank you all so much for your positivity and support!!! This site is truly amazing!!! And, I cannot stress how completely shocked I am by my success on Metformin. We had been trying for 9 months, I had failed to respond to clomid and withonly one cycle on met, I o'd. It is a miracle pill!!!!
Just so you all know, with the metformin, I also did several other things this month. I began going to the chiropractor, where she focused on certain areas of my back which are connected to my reproductive organs, I exercised 3X45 mins a week (cardio - no weights) and did not exercise the week of impantation (did not want to risk it). I also cut back on my carbs (especially sugar) and drank one cup of green tea a day. I ate a lot of chicken, green leafy vegetables and milk products (nothing low fat). I avoided pasta, bread, rice and potatoes and anything sweet =(. It was hard at first, but I also managed to lose 7 lbs and have kept it off so far. Hope this answers some fo your questions.
Thank you for all your suppor once again.
Love and babies to you all!

I am severly overweight 300+. was on met a long time ago but got off of it. I am back on it now..been about 2 weeks starting out at 1000mg. what a HUGE wakeup call for my body. I just went to 1250mg a day 2 days ago and my body again is taking a beating. I can't stand the cramping and the constant bathroom trips. I am losing weight simply b/c I can't keep food in my body for more than a couple of hours. I have cut out pop/chip/chocolate bars...anything sweet...but can't get away from carbs yet. Started biking a few weeks ago and so far have lost 3 lbs in 6 days....have not weighed myself this week yet. In a couple months I am going to try and take 1000mg of clomid...waiting til then so I can have somehwhat of a normal period by provera...usually lasts about 3 weeks when I take it...it will go for a couple of days then quit...and so on. i also want a build up of the met...see if the two of them(clomid + met) will work together. I am feeling a bit fustrated. The last time I was on met (for about 6 months) I never got a period on my own so I gave up. young and foolish I guess. Thanks for listening ladys...just needed to vent a bit. |

The first few weeks are the hardest as you crave them, but after you get over that hump you usually don't have as strong of cravings after that. I'm a chocoholic though so I know how hard it can be! You can search the other posts for sample menus from a low carb diet and there are actually quite a few things that you can eat or substitute. Best of luck! |

Is anyone finding success on Met while thin + non IR?
I'm trying to regulate my hormones naturally w a naturopathic dr, but am seriously considering Met after reading about all these successes! |
