Update on my Metformin success: I ovulated after 5 weeks on Met... I felt pregnant for a couple of days, but started bleeding heavily - almost a week before my period was supposed to come. Took a hpt anyway (couldn't believe it was over), it was negative, but after a while showed a very very thin line. I guess this confirmed my pregnant feelings. So it's over now, before it even really started.

I still consider it a success: got pregnant on Met twice already (and have a beautiful baby to remind me of that), and am sure will get pregnant on it again in the near future.

Hey congrats on the Met. I have been on met for 3 weeks...1000mg. I tried going up to 1250 but the bathroom trips were unbearable so I went back to 1000. Next month I am going to try clomid with the met. I just took provera had a period for alittle over a week. I am not sure if another one is coming. Having pains on my lower right side. If I happen to get another period then I will take my clomid this cycle. Going to try 100mg of clomid. My dr. has high hopes with the clomid. I am not...I need to get into the right frame of mind then it will work. Have had way too many disappointments in the past.

Amsterdam - Sorry about AF and then getting faint positive.....Chemical pregnancy do you think? You have the right attitude and if it happened for you before it will happen again! Good luck

Default Latest on my situation--can someone help?

Hi...I've been on Met about 2 months or so and dropped 15-20 pounds and had a normal, 28 day cycle last time. But this time I'm late and did not ovulate! I guess one out of two isn't bad but I'm upset about it...I was hoping to get right back on a normal Aunt Flo schedule....
Is it normal to have your cycle stutter as you recover?

Also, my doctor wants to put me on Clomid in July anyway to try to get us knocked up..Do you think, given that I'm not ovulating on my own regularly yet, that that's a good idea?

Thanks everyone for this thread!!! I've read about 75% of it andd it gives me so much hope!!

I've been on Met for about two weeks now the beginning was horrible. I was on my back and in the bathroom for about a week. Then I started taking both 500mg pills at night with a snack. After that I started having a little nausea in the mornings when I wake up, but not much else!

I'm hoping through that my Dr. will bump me up to 1500mg as I am a thin cyster. I find out if I'm IR next week when I go back for my blood test results and the results of my first ultrasound. After 32 cycles, its so wonderful to finally have a Dr. that listened to me!!

Right now I'm waiting for AF (just finished 10 days of Provera). Hopefully I'll be back with a complete success story in a few weeks!

I have been on Met for a little over a month now. So far everything is great. I have lost five pounds and I got AF right on time. I dunno if that means I ovulated or not.

kita - I was about 247 with my first child, and for the most part the PG went well. With this PG I am around 215 and feel much more healthier! I would say if you can try to lose some weight, but if not don't worry to much .. As for me I will definitely lose more weight if I decide to go for #3. Since even though my weight is less, my GD is far more worse this time around. Age I guess!

Angry Not so great news for me--Month 2 on Metformin

Hi...I couldn't find my earlier posting so I thought I'd ask you ladies for your thoughts on this.

First month on metformin, 850x2, got AF on day 28 like clockwork.
This cycle, no ovulation whatsoever, no AF and now they want to
trigger my period with provera and put me on Clomid.

I'm so bummed out..I was hoping that after the first month with an on-time period that I would be ovulating again...and I'm not....
I've lost about 15-20 pounds by the way..

Anyone had this where metformin works and then doesn't? is this normal?

Girls,
I have been on Met 1500mg per day since March, taking Provera on CD17 well o June I did not see AF and HPT came back negative on Friday. I wanted to lose at least 20 pounds b4 I get pregnant because now I have 200lbs in a 5'3 frame, but I call my Dr today and they fit me in for next tue. the 10th to see what's going on, for the past 3 months with the Met & Provera I see AF all the time but on June nothing happen, I also have not lost anything so I want to know if I ask my Dr to up my dose to 2000 or 2500 do you think I can lose some weight? I want to know what to tell him next week, I really dont understand why every one loses weight but me...Is a little frustating...I also got a bottle of those new diet pills "Alli" to see if that can help me with the weight...
Any thoughts?
