My Mood: Points: 355.23 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 355.23 | Hi, I am new to this and was just diagnosed with PCOS last week. I was placed on Met XR last Friday, so far no side effects. I started at 500mg/day and because of no symptoms am now up to 1500mg, my Endo wants me to get up to 2000mg, but on my own time depending on my side effects. I am trying to work on my low carb diet, and I have been working out for awhile now, so far not much weight loss since started Met XR, but am thinking positive.
I do have one question
I recently had my gall bladder removed and was told to help with the bthrm issues I get from that, I should eat fiber, is there any way to eat fiber and low carbs at the same time. Any suggestions would be great.
Also, for those who have PCOS and are IR like me. I used to weigh 232 and was not getting my cycle for mths at a time(lucky if I got 2-3/yr) I lost 47 lbs last yr and the moment I started losing, I got my first 2 cycles in a row, I get them now ever since, but they come late every mth. I am hoping to get more regular and TTC. I tried for 5 yrs with no success at all. |

I had one cycle since taking met. and it was a 36 day cycle! (shortest one ever for me). Haven't gotten another one yet. But still, even if i have to do provera+clomid to get preggo maybe my body will respond to it better than the first time now that i'm healthier...Congrats to everyone else as well~!!

Good luck with it and take care of yourself!

I think that is so cool (not for her to have the symptoms, but for someone to chat with about it). This week she told me that her sister-in-law has PCOS too and had been trying to lose weight for a while with no results. Then her dr suggested she take her Met all at one time instead of splitting up the dose in the morning/evening. She saidthat when she changed the way she took it that is when the weight started dropping off her (with exercise and not eating junk foods). Does anyone else do this? Do you take your 1,000+ mg dose all at once? I was just curious about why this worked better for her than to do 500 mg in the morning and 500 mg in the evening.

Does it really matter?

Points: 677.14 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 677.14 | Hi Ladies I am new here and I have been through many of the posts, it really gives me hope My DH and I have been trying to get pregnant for almost 4 years now and I have just recently been put on metformin. I started July 15th at 500 mg and I was pretty sick but once the side affects subsided I moved up to the 1000 mg and wow I am quite sick again...even worse. I will eventually have to move up to 1500 mg but I am getting nervous as to whether I will be able to. My bp is low and I have lost 8 lbs in 6 days. Is this normal? I have read some women don't lose any weight (which I am grateful for) but this is a little fast and I am getting to the point where looking at meat will make me sick. If some of you have experienced this...how long did it take your body to adjust? Thanks
Kerri |
