I saw that we had our spelling the same Kerri, you don't see that too often do you.
Well I am continuing to get sicker on the 1000 mg so I am not sure what to do. I feel like I am car sick or have motion sickness, if you will, constantly. This morning I feel a bit better so I am scared to take my pill now. I have been taking my pills mid way through my meals but I will try eating my entire meal and then taking the pill. I will also try the 16 oz of water Kerri and a few carbs today. With the 500 mg on or around day 5 I started to feel better so I thought the 1000 mg would improve...but gosh it is terrible, mind you the diarrhea is gone (oh but that could be because I am downing pepto) LOL
Thanks for all your support girls. I also got my period naturally yesterday which is good. Well I better go take that pill ugh! |

I HAVE lost weight in the short month I've been on it (see ticker) and I do feel good. I told a friend last night, in mid conversation, that it just dawned on me that I've not been a raving lunatic in a few weeks. LOL! ker31, does the Pepto really work?? I've found myself not taking my next dosage if I know I'm going to be out and about. I really shouldn't do that, but I'm terrified to be out somewhere and not be able to get to the restroom.

So I'm upping my dose today from 500 to 750mg. So far, just a little motion sickness-type feelings, which you mentioned, Ker310. I've also noticed that my temps have shot up since I started met 5 days ago by almost a degree. But no positive opk or other signs of ovulation. Has anyone had their temps go up soon after starting met?
Also snuck some chocolate last night, but no bad SE. I feel like I'm just waiting for it to hit though... |

I'm on 1000 mg of Metformin, heading into week 2. I was not only feeling motion sickness, but acting CRAZY. the boyfriend couldn't deal with me at ALLLLL. haha.
His mom suggested I wrote down EVERYTHING that I ate, and then when I felt horrible. It really helped, because I found that I felt motion sickness after I ate sugars/carbs/starches.
i'm started to feel better, and it's only been 2 weeks. |

I have been lurking for a while and reading all the posts. I found out in May 2006 that I had PCOS. I had not had AF for almost two years. I did not want to take BCP because they have always made my heart race. I started metformin in the middle of January. I am taking 1500mg. I had my first AF in March and then again in June 92 days later. I thought about asking my doctor to increase the dose since it seems to be working but I would like to have a shorter amount of time between cycles. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Laura |

Lullaby the pepto did work for me in the diarrhea dept but we all are so different with these side effects it seems, I would try it at home first I hope it helps though.
xjordananne thanks for acknowledging the motion sickness feeling, that is how I feel most of the time and it is nice to know I am not going crazy haha!
Today I was still nausous but not as bad as yesterday. I hope it is settling down a bit. I have decided to give it to the end of the week and if the motion sickness is still bad I will drop back to the 500 mg.
Unfortunately I have anxiety attacks and this nausous feeling I associate with my panic attacks so the feeling is really taking its toll and making my anxiety worse. We are selling our house and I had to leave for a showing today and I was almost in tears because I didn't want to get in the car to leave the house. I hate being in a car on a hot day with motion sickness LOL it sucks!
Cheers girlies hope the met works for us all!! |

He was a little worried about weight loss and didn't think I had IR but I crave sugar and carbs like no other (well, maybe like you gals). Looking forward to positive info. |

Fortamet is just a brand name of metformin, so I think it should have the same effects as generic Metformin (maybe just a little bit more expensive?). I have read on other posts that the extended release (XR) can have different side effects than the normal though...maybe switching to the XR would help your fatigue?? |

I am just going to take 500 mg at night for a while and maybe try to move up to the 1000 mg in a month or so. I have so much going on at the moment being this sick is just not working with the schedule. |

Points: 647.63 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 647.63 | You ladies are awesome and truly inspirational! I was just diagnosed with PCOS last month after participating in a study at Cedars in Los Angeles. I suspected I had it for many years, but for some reason always bailed when it came time to have the tests done. I think I was scared to find out that there was something actually wrong with me! I'm going to start taking Met soon and your success stories have really encouraged me. My husband and I would like to conceive and we are anxious to discover whether or not Met will help me the way that it has helped so many of you. About me, I'm 27 and pretty thin (5'4, 125lbs.) I haven't had regular cycles since I began menstruating at age 14 -- I'll have maybe 7 or 8 periods per year. My doctors always told me that my body would regulate itself -- that irregular periods were normal. Ha! What a joke. Anyway, I know this will sound like a terribly ignorant question, but how do you *know* when you are ovulating? Once I begin the Met, I want to make sure I know what to look for. Again, I know it's an ignorant question, but I'm pretty dense like that.
OK, well thank you all again for your inspirational stories. If you don't mind, please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I begin Met. I hope that I will have a true success story sometime soon!

You can find it on Amazon. Its a fabulous book with sooo much useful information. I've read it at least 3 times now and also look back at it periodically when I need a reference. |
