Temping is great but once you see the rise in temp, ovulation has already taken place, you want his swimmers there waiting for that egg to come out so BD'ng couple days before the temp spike is always your best bet. My body definitely let me know when I was getting ready so it was pretty easy for me. I'd get OV pain pretty bad, sore nips 3 days before, my temp would fall before it would spike up and I had tons of the egg-white mucus. You just really have to pay attention to your body and any signs it's giving you. Taking Charge of you Fertility really does help and I got mine too on Amazon.com.
Good luck!

It's pretty handy but after awhile of not ovulating I just kinda gave up and just left it up to God. Without knowledge, I ovulated and became pregnant! I was so so shocked by it and now here I am just starting my 6th month. It's amazing and I'm having the daughter I've always wanted. Good luck!!

Points: 1,111.84 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,111.84 | I was using those ovulation kits for like 6 months. They always came back that I was ovulating. Once dx with PCO, I asked my Dr. if those were tests accurate since ultrasounds are showing that I do not ovulate. He said they can be wrong. I might have been producing enough LH to trigger a test but not enough to actually trigger ovulation.
Kareena, Congrats on your pregnancy! It is so much fun having a little girl.

We tried and tried and nothing worked untill this. Since I have been on the pill and stopped taking it in January. We havent had much luck with getting pregnant so we are going back on the Metformin. Hopefully we will have as much luck as the last time. Happy to be back here to the site to get advice from all the women.

My Mood: Points: 466.23 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 466.23 | I can't help but to wonder if my daughter due in November will grow to have PCOS as well. My Mother didn't have it, but her sister (my Aunt) does and so does my only biological sister. One thing I know for sure is I will absolutely be paying attention to that once she enters puberty years from now.

Points: 2,547.98 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,547.98 | This thread is great! I began met 3 days ago, 1000 mg. I have a some side effects - that motion sick feeling and diarrhea, but it’s not too bad. Pepto has helped a lot.
One thing I would love to hear some thoughts on is that I want to ttc, but the endo told me not to until the met has improved my hormone levels. He says the risk of m/c with pcos is "very elevated," so I think that's why he advises to wait. This is NOT what I wanted to hear! I have not noticed that other ladies have been given this advice and am interested to know your thoughts on it. I think we might try in a couple of months regardless, but I don't want to be reckless. I have about 9 periods a year, am not overweight, and I don’t know if I ovulate.
Also, has met helped anyone’s acne? That is my biggest problem so far from pcos (and is actually what led me to see an endo in the first place). I don’t think there’s much else I can take for acne while ttc.
At times I have been pretty upset and worried about the impact pcos is going to have on my fertility and therefore my marriage. This thread makes me think that things might very well be alright! I am so happy for everyone who has had good results with this drug and wish the same for everyone else here. |

I just wanted to comment on your entry. I have been to 2 endo and 1 gyn and all three have suggested that I start with Met and stay on that only for about 3-4 months before they start me on any fertility meds. They seem to think that the Met should regulate your hormones and get you ovulating. There is a high risk of m/c with women that have pcos. So while there is that immediate urge to ttc, it is a good idea to wait to see what happens with the met. Your acne should start to clear up as well, once your hormones are regulated. Hope everything works out with you. Good Luck

Also, when you do get pregnant, you should ask the Dr. to run a progesterone level check. If you're not making enough of it, you will miscarry. Good luck!!

Points: 606.67 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 606.67 | Charlotte 320 - I was not told to wait to TTC but the Met did take almost 4 months to get me to ovulate and it wasn't until the 5 month (2nd ovulation) that I became pregnant. I personally think if your body is ovulating, when it had not been at all previously, than your body is probably ready to support a pregnancy. Also, that is why most doctors will have you keep taking the Met at least through the 1st trimester so your hormones do stay in balance and I 2nd whoever said to have them check your progesterone level ASAP after getting a positive pregnancy test. PCOS women's progesterone levels do tend to be lower.
As for the Acne, my skin did clear up after being on the Met. I didn't have acne but did notice a big difference in how smooth and clear my skin got. Your testosterone levels are probably high, my doc said that's the main reason acne in women can get out of control. Met should bring those male hormone levels down.
Good luck and KUP!
