Hi,

I've only been diagnosed this week and started Met 3 days ago. Im only on 500mgs, but will increase up to 1000mgs next week, and then up to 1500mgs. So far no side effects... fingers crossed it should regulate my cycle and kick start ovulation!

I'm on 1700mg of met per day and
I don't have the Clomid vial in front of me but
it's the usual 2 pills at night regime...pretty standard...

Right now, they're doing daily blood draws to try to
pinpoint my surge...they say if I don't surge by Sunday
they'll want to do an ultrasound, probably to look and
see if I have any sizable follicles and if not, then I'm
not responding to the clomid...

Audrey - Sounds pretty standard! So 1700mg of MET and 100 mg Clomid! Ok, now this is completely up to you, but you might want to increasing your MET to 2000mg during your BDing week (usually day 9 -25) but remember most Cysters O late with clomid .. I did with both of my BFP! Doctors sometimes check your blood or have an U/S to early, and therefore determine that you did not O, but in actuality, your body hasn’t O’d until much later!

Hello Ladies,

I havent posted in a while but just wanted to get back in the swing of things as I just started on Met again this past Monday!
I am on 1000mg per day but have gone down to 750 b/c of the side effects so far!
I am hoping to get back up to 1000mg next week but we will see!

I am just hoping that it will help with my weight and regulate my periods.

I came off of BCP's over 2months ago and still no AF!

I am not exremely over weight but I am heavy in LBS compared to the way I look..and just want to be able to take some of that off..I'm hoping Met will help!

Hi yes...100mg Clomid was the dosage.

I am doing daily blood draws to determine my surge and had an ultrasound this morning ..no follicles on the right side but a follicle on the left.My estrogen is rising so they think it's a viable follicle. If I don't surge fast enough they want to give me an hcg injection to make me ovulate.
However the doctor said he wants to talk to me this week about moving to Repronex injections...if this doesn't work and we don't get pregnant. What do you think?

Hi Everyone,
I'm new. I was dx'd a month ago with PCOS with Insulin Resistance. I'm on 500 mg. E/R and have not had any side effect. I have lost 8 lbs. so far. I go back to see my endo. in another 4 weeks. I was very disappointed that he only started me out on 550 mg. for 8 whole weeks. I have read on here that you don't get the full benefit unless the mg are around 2000, but he was quite "firm" with me about it. Alittle about me: I'm 36, married for almost 7 years now. No children, never wanted any. I've always been crazy active and love tennis/working out. I'm all about my health/fitness. About 3 years ago I started putting on weight for no reason. I kept thinking maybe it was because I was getting older or just changing...but I went from 124 to 168 and I cannot tell you how horribly depressed this made me. My periods were very screwed up for the last 16 years. I opted to have an endometrial ablation (90 days ago) to stop my periods. I'm elated that I have no had a period for 90 days and hope that I never will. So...other symptoms besides the periods and weight was the weird hair growth. All I do is pluck/shave. I suspected PCOS so started researching. I was convinced I had it. I made an appt. to see my endo. and I did all kinds of blood tests and ultrasounds and everything came back "normal". He concluded that it was PCOS with insulin resistance and started me on the Met. Like I said, I was disappointed that he only put me on 500 mg. I hope he bumps me up to 1000. All I care to do is lose about 40 more lbs. My diet is and has always been very healthy/clean so I'm baffled by all this weight. It has been encouraging reading the posts here. I was a 168 and today am at 160. I know the Met. has something to do with it. I guess I'm lucky, in that, I have had no terrible side effects. I notice that I have no appetite. And I have a clarity that I have not experienced before. Before taking this, I was so out of it, couldn't concentrate, just wanted to sleep all the time, and now--I feel "mentally" better, more energy. Wish me luck!!! Best of luck to everyone else!!!

Seems like everyone's endo, except mine, is very easy about starting them out on a high dosage. Don't you think, in my case, putting me on 500 mg. (e/r) for 8 straight weeks seems a little harsh? I was hoping that he would start me out atleast 1000 mg. I've had no side effects whatsoever. I've only dropped 8 lbs. in the last 5 weeks. I need to lose another 40. I'm hoping upping the dosage will help me get rid of the weight. I already have a clean diet and workout alot, so I don't have issues as far as bad eating habits and not working out. I could use some hope about right now. I have to wait 3 more weeks before I see him again and I am really going to push for him to put me up to 1000 or as much as I can get away with. I'm guessing he just wanted to "go easy" on me, starting me out...???

Nope. Def. not trying to conceive--had a tubal at age 25, which was 11 yrs ago and also had an endometrial ablation this past June, so...he knows this about me. It's all (for me) about weight/hair. He never made any comment about it...other than he was very firm with me about starting me out at 500 mg. I read so much about these gals upping their Metformin themselves, making no mention of whether or not the Dr. approved it/nor not. I'm not going to do that. I'm tempted to. I'm trying to be a good girl and just be patient. Something I'm not very good at. I guess Dr.'s must have varying opinions about how it's prescribed. Love reading all the success stories!!!

Well, upping the dose without doctor approval will screw up your insurance coverage/refills. I once upped my dose per doctors orders but didn't officially do it at the pharmacy and then ran into all sorts of trouble getting a refill. Better to do it through the right channels.

Wow it is so great to hear so much success on metformin. Congrats to all. I have been on metformin for a year now have lost 40 pounds but been at the same weight now for four months I am wondering if I need a higher dosage of metformin and can your body get too use to the same dosage for a whole year? I have been taking only 1000mg a day.

Got my AF!! It came on Sunday (expected because of BCP) and it's my first since February of this year! I have been on met for the past 2 months and BCP. No weight lost yet, just some bad fatigue and sleepiness. Whoo hoo!!

It is nice to know some have lost weight. I am hopeful! I have only been on it for about a month also! Hoping it helps to regulate af and ovulation and everything. I am hoping for a lot. We will see!

I am so excited I had to share! I have only been on Met (1000mg) for 6 days and I've already lost 4 pounds! I haven't had bad se either. I will go up to 1500 next weeks sometime. I am so happy!!!!
