I am so excited hearing your trials and the succesfull outcomes. This gives me really hope. I am now 33, diagnosed with PCOs when I was 17 and put into BCP when I was 22 (I am using it 11 years now!). Since I am planning to have a family within the next 2 years, I would like to start preparing my body to get rid of the pill and regulate my cycles and my ovulation without it. I am also thin and never tested for IR, so this is the common we have. My PCO symptoms were acne and irregular periods (all ok and normal with the BCP). I would appreciate if you could give me some consultation on what you suggest to do from now on. Metformin seems a promising solution. Do you take it alone and/or with other stuff (vitamins, herbs, etc.) and how do you manage any symptoms you may had?
Thank you in advance.
I would appreciate your answer very much.

I don't know if the Metformin alone is going to cause AF to come this cycle. I have had 5 days of HIGH on the fertility monitor and no other symptoms (sore nipples, etc.) so we shall see :o) I wasn't as good with low carbing it this cycle...darn pasta!! hahaha!!

Met helped me get pg with both my children, but I still had long cycles. I just started Vitex (which is supposed to be good when coming off the pill) and so far it seems to be helping shorted everything!

My Mood: Points: 196.91 Bank: 677.16 Total Points: 874.07 | On Met for month and a half I started takeing Metformin the begining of October.I was diagnosed when i was 19 ,and like some many other paople i was scared of the side effects.Well a month and a half later i am doing great.I feel awake and full of energy,i'm not hungery all the time, i stay full longer, and i have lost 15 lbs so far. This is all without much change to my diet.I try to aty away from the sugars as much as i can, also my docter has a web site explaining about high and low glycemic load.It gave a list of foods ,and i chose from that list and moddified my diet some. The last time i wieghed i was in shock that i had lost 10 more pounds. The first month i lost 5.Still have not had a period but i feel it trying to come on.I have cramped for a month and a half and this week have been nauseated off an on.So far so good.
Good luck to all of you out there. |

I started met in August of 2007-a low dose of 500 mg 2x a day. After 3 weeks or so I got af, and I continue to lose weight. Not drastically but I have lost 15 lbs since being on met and I am continuing to lose. I haven't had af since the last one but I am hoping with the increased dosage that I start on Friday, I will be well on my way to getting pregnant, and fitting into my skinny jeans.
