My Mood: Points: 467.23 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 467.23 | Hi everyone! You may remember me ... I dropped off about a month ago. Anyway, I have news to share! Kristjana Faith Holloway was born November
13th by c-section. She is a beautiful little girl who weighed 7
pounds and was 19 7/8 inches long .. just about 20 inches! She was born
with a defective lymph node on the left side of her neck so she was
flown by helicopter (Angel One) to Arkansas Childrens Hospital in Little
Rock within a few hours and I had to stay there to recover from my
cesarean. Joe and his Mom went which was good that they got to go. So
anyway, 3 days later I was able to join them there and got to breastfeed
Kristjana. The defective lymph node is the size of a baseball on the
left side of her neck. December 17th we're taking her back there for
a couple of days to have it looked at again and see when we can have it removed. It does not interfere with anything and she is completely healthy. She has no other defects and no disorders genetic or otherwise. Anyway, I just wanted to share the news!

Btw what is vitex and what is it used for? I was also wondering what an hsg is and how it helps with conceiving. Any answers would be appreciated!

Its been said that in some cases the test itself can push away small blockages and some women get pregnant pretty soon after it (although its not exactly considered a fertility aid) I had one, there were no blockages, but having one did not make me get pregnant.
Vitex- don't know anything about it, so will let someone esle answer that one.
Kareena- congrats on your new baby! Hope everything works out well and soon! |

My Mood: Points: 4,636.98 Bank: 25,103.15 Total Points: 29,740.13 | Trisha - Yes! Just got it a few days ago. I had a m/c a month ago, so hopefully this is a sticky one.
Kareena - Congratulations! She is lovely.
Sarah - Vitex has helped me get pg twice now! (And I have only been on it for two cycles. ) It is a natural herb that makes your body produce the level of hormones it is supposed to. A lot of PCOS women find it helpful. I researched many many herbs when TTC this time around, because what I was finding, is that Met gives me my cycle, but as time goes on, it gets longer and longer (37-60 days long)(I think lots in part due to the stress of TTC). So, I started Met, had one normal length cycle, and then one long annovulatory one that was never ending, and I thought "Here we go again." So I started Vitex, got AF within days, and got pg that cycle! (not only that, but I O'd cd 12 or 13, I think?) Unfortunately in ended in m/c, but then I started the Vitex again, and O'd in 4 weeks, and am pg again. I can't give all the credit to Vitex as I know I prayed a lot, and Met helped me get pg the last two times, but it was much quicker this time, so I KNOW it helped me. Sorry I couldn't be quicker! lol. If you have any more questions, you can ask me anytime, or go to the alternative remedies board.

Trisha - Can you ask your gyno for an hsg? I've never been tested to see if there is any blockage before so who knows that could be the problem. Thanks for the info.

My Mood: Points: 4,636.98 Bank: 25,103.15 Total Points: 29,740.13 | Thanks Sarah. And you can buy Vitex either online, or in your local healthfood store. There are no side effects usually. Certainly when I was researching I did not come across any. I think you can take Vitex for 18 months though, and then they want you to take a break from it. I am not quite sure why that is. I think the girls on the Alternative Rememedies board would know. Anyway, I highly reccomend it to lots of people. In fact, I reccommended it to two women at work, and the one that doesn't have PCOS, just found out she was pg on her 2nd cycle of it. (Although it could have been coincidence as she hadn't been trying very long)

My Mood: Points: 2,818.00 Bank: 21,915.14 Total Points: 24,733.15 | Wow i can't believe i never heard of this stuff before. What time in your cycle did u start taking it? I'd like to start this cycle because with met i'm noticing that i also am having longer cycles. Started out as an 18 day, then 2 26 day cycles and the last on was a 36 day. I get af every month, but met hasnt "regulated" me the way i had hoped. Maybe vitex is the answer!

Speaking of that, has your hubby had a Semen Analysis? Thats another good test to have done to rule out any other issues. Its pretty inexpensive and easy to do. |

My Mood: Points: 4,636.98 Bank: 25,103.15 Total Points: 29,740.13 | Sarah, my Re did the HSG as a workup as well. It doesn't hurt to ask. You have to be an advocate for your own health anyway. As for the Vitex, I had seen women on it, but never considered it until this time around. I started taking it right away, 3 pills all at once in the am. (You are supposed to, before you eat anything). I only take 240 mg a day (well, I quit now that I am pg), but others on here take much more. It worked for me though, and the brand I was taking only suggested that much, so I stayed with it. I don't think it matters when you start it in your cycle. For you, now would be an excellent time, just because you are at the beginning. They also say that it can take 3-6 months to start to make a difference in your hormone levels and cycle, and not to expect anything before then, but I know lots of us have seen results before then, just as an FYI.

My Mood: Points: 2,818.00 Bank: 21,915.14 Total Points: 24,733.15 | Well im going to go pick some up tomorrow and start taking it as soon as possible. At least its natural and won't hurt to try! As for the hsg, i have to wait until my next appointment to ask about one. My bf has had a s/a and everything is fine, and i had my ovaries checked for cysts (none thank god) but that was almost 2 years ago. I'll let you girls know how it goes this time around. I'm excited to start trying in a more natural way.
