Points: 280.33 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 280.33 | Metformin and Ovulation I have a question, I have been on Metformin for about 2 weeks, I have had a menstrual cycle and I was wondering if anyone had an idea as to when to watch for ovulation and how I would go about it. My doctor has not been very helpful but he is the only one around where I live. I have also been very emotional lately, has anyone else experienced this? It is like PMS only 10 times worse. Thanks a bunch... |

Read Taking Charge of Your fertility (they often have it at the library but its also very worth it to buy... I've read it at least 4 times) Check it out on Amazon to see the million of high ratings for it. I consider it my ttc bible!

Points: 293.31 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 293.31 | I am another success story! The doctor started me out with 1700 mg/day of metformin and taking clomid. I dropped 30 pounds really quickly, from 200 to 170. I had no side effects from the medication. I got pregnant within 6 months of taking the combination, but quickly miscarried. I decided to stay on metformin and drop the clomid, and soon realized that I was ovulating without the clomid. Within a year from my first pregnancy, I met a naturopath and started looking at my diet as well. She had me stop eating wheat and dairy and put me on supplements in areas that I was deficient. She also had me stay on Metformin! Within two months of this new eating plan, we were pregnant. I stayed on Metformin until 14 weeks and the whole pregnancy went perfect. I had no complications and it was very healthy. I was induced at 37 weeks because my blood pressure was high and I had dialated to 2 cm, there was also protein in my urine. My daughter was born perfect, at 6 pounds 13 ounces. Metformin was really instrumental in my PCOS, I am so thankful for it!

I want one!!!!
Not sure why the no wheat - no dairy helps but I do notice my IR issues are not so bad when I cut them out ....
Personally I find it hard to sustain such a restricted diet. I do the best I can and hope it gets easier to just eat stuff that helps my IR which whill in turn help my hormones behave themselves, and that will help me conceive
I think that's how it works

Are you IR? I've just found out that I'm not, and honestly, I'm discouraged that now that means the Met won't help me at all (lose weight, get a normal af).
Anyone sucessful on Met who's not IR?

Points: 1,111.84 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,111.84 | I was tested and do not have IR but asked for Met anyway. I too have heard that results are inaccurate. I think the Met is working because I have lost weight around my mid section.

I have been having a really hard time with the side effects of the met. I have been on for a month at 1000mg. Going to the doc today and I want him to move me up to a higher dosage.
We are ttc and this thread has made me hopeful. Thank you ladies. |
