My Mood: Points: 208.70 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 208.70 | I've just started taking met. (I'm only taking two pills this week and will start three on Monday) What are the benefits of taking it in the morning? And 20 lb. weight loss? Way to go on that! Is it just from the decreased appetite? Any other suggestions? Thanks. |

Took months to stop feeling sick on it - my tip would be don't get over confident and raise the dose too soon! Take it slow, and you'll win.
I take mine through the day, a tablet before each meal, and I don't snack. It helps with regulating my insulin and aiding weight loss, and I've lost a lot

My Mood: Points: 4,237.03 Bank: 4,756.12 Total Points: 8,993.16 | I've been on met for almost 2 1/2 weeks. Started out on 850 mgs. and just upped it to 1700 on Saturday. I've had some nausea and just a couple "uh oh" bathroom moments, but overall, the side effects haven't been so bad. I'm also doing a low fat/low carb diet and trying to make healthier food choices and better portion control. My dr. (well, my FORMER dr.) office only prescribed met for patients taking Clomid so I literally had to fight to get a prescription. Well....I'd like to tell that dr. what he can kiss! I weighed myself for the first time this morning. I've lost 8 lbs. since starting the meds. My hair hasn't fallen out for 3 straight days now and DH even commented that he can see my waist!!! My mother-in-law is going to alter some of my work clothes after Christmas because they're all too big now. I never dreamed that I would see results begin this soon! I feel awesome (except for the nausea, of course!)!

Been on Metformin for 7 months now (5 months on my current dosage - 1500mg). Matthew 1:23 - Behold, the maiden shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, And they shall call his name Immanuel; which is, being interpreted, God with us.
God is definitely with us! Happy holidays, everyone!

Points: 132.47 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 132.47 | Thank you everyone for all of your insightful comments. I am only 21, and suffering with the symptoms of PCOS since I was 14 and chalked it up to poor diet and my Mediterranean ethnicity. Months ago my OBGYN suggested met, but I was too busy/stressed with school and work to make a move. But the hair growth (chin, stomach, nipples particularly) has worsened. i wax execessively so my bigger issue is my inability to lose weight, amongst other less severe symptoms. I am not classified as overweight because i am 5'3 and 125 lbs but all of my weight is in my mid section. I have been on a strict diet for months and have seen little or no results. I am talking only salads for lunch (with no cheese or bread on the side and only light dressings); my total caloric intake is under 500 on a daily basis. I also exercise 5 times a week. I have become obsessed with losing weight but only lost 5 lbs (was 130 lbs). I want to get prescribed ASAP, and I recall my dr. telling me to do blood work, but is that necessary for a presription of met? Since he already suggested it, can I jsut call him and ask him to call in for one? Being single and depressed does not help, but I think once my weight issue is resolved I will feel differently. |

My Mood: Points: 9,954.22 Bank: 43,398.28 Total Points: 53,352.50 | sprinklesplas, what a wonderful Christmas morning! I'm so happy for you.
DH and I both wished on the turkey wishbone for a baby in 2008. His side was the larger wishbone section, so hopefully his wish will come true!
MariaNYU, you don't have to have a blood test before taking met. I didn't. And if your doctor already suggested it, I'd just try calling and seeing if he can give you a prescription without one. But also ask if there are other reasons for him wanting to take blood work. I have to go in in about 3 weeks for blood work, but he gave me met to start beforehand. Good luck!
Merry Christmas everyone. DH and I drove home from my mom's last night because we both work today. But I got another little Christmas surprise when I got home. The book I ordered from Amazon with the scheduled delivery date as 12/27, was on my doorstep! Must have come Monday. It's Taking Charge of Your Fertility, which I've heard so much about on this site. Can't wait to start reading. |

My Mood: Points: 17,230.07 Bank: 753.73 Total Points: 17,983.80 | BACK HERE AGAIN girls..
I found out last week I was preg at 13dpo.. Too scared to post as last time missed at 5 weeks. BUT this time my pregnancy tests lines have gotten stronger and stronger.. so 5 weeks 2moro.. 1st scan in 2 weeks...
I was doing injections for 5 cycles.. 5th one was the lucky one.. BUT METFORIM did it again.. I am sure... As on cycle 1,2, and 3 I was not on it and half way through 4 got back on it 1 tab a day.. on 5th cycle I went up to 1.5.. I cant manage past 2 because of SEVERE acid relfux that causes me to loose weight.. a lot..
So girls wish me luck please.
should I stick to 1.5 tabs or try get to 2?

Without being an expert here, my personal opinion is that if the dose you are on got you pregnant, its probably a good dose for you, but I really have no idea. I just stayed on whatever dose I was prescribed for the entire pregnancies, but I know different docs have different ideas. |
