My Mood: Points: 232.84 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 232.84 | Met stories Hello everybody! I just finished reading all your success stories and O.M.G.! how many there are.....It's great to find someone in the same position as I am and keep eachother company but sadly there are so many women with this problem... Me, I'm like an open book of PCOS, all symptoms are there....Even if I had problems with my AF for more than 3 years I've been diagnosed only in may 2007 by a genius doctor which I love.... So, as a short story, I started BCP in 2003, taken them for one year when i stopped because my AF went in vacation and didn't want to come back.I struggled with this problem for much time, tried other BCP but nothing worked....tried herb treatments, worked for a while, i had my AF coming from vacation but stopped again so i decided to get some diagnose in april 2005. My doctor, even if he did a complete blood-gyne analysis gave me Diane 35 and not for PCOS which he didn'd say anything at all...Me, scared as hell to take again BCP, hesitated much b4 taking them but finally started them in sept 2005. Even if i had a gyn control, never heard of PCOS on me..... I took Diane 35 for 6 months, my period came during this while but after 6 months decided to quit again the job...So again i stopped the treatment .After several months I heard from one coleague about this phenomenal doctor and i decided to go for analyses....Surprise, surprise, diagnosed with PCOS directly (as i had all the symptoms and i didn't know what's wrong with me: hair moving from my head to my face, gained weight around weist, IR ). Everything made me confused and dizzy...How could this get un-noticed.....Whatever.....The doctor put me on Metformin 1700/day directly which made me , and Duphastone... I lost directly 10 kg, that's 22 lbs....My AF came the second month...So, now, after stopping it in december 2007 because of the nasty S/E my period stopped again...In february I discovered this site and started Met again , as I am determined to TTC and have a BFP this year....My cycle is 28 days long and until now seems to be ok...I don't know yet if I am O-ing or not but I will test it for sure.... I have to say that your success stories gave me power to continue taking this Met again....It really works for me, now I am on 2000mg/day as on doctor's prescription and the symptoms are better now, nothing bad I just hope we will be able to conceive soon.... Congratulations to all the moms or future moms and Have courage for those still trying! Kisses, Ally |

I just started Met today, and I was seriously worried and actually tought something might be wrong b/c I was not feeling anything... Now I see that it is okay to have a good experience with this med and I am excited to see what it can do for me! |

My Mood: Points: 317.48 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 317.48 | Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie here. I was dx with PCOS in 2005, but have been symptomatic for 18 years. I was on Met last year but stopped due to s/e. I just started again the beginning of March 2008 at 1000 mg and two weeks ago 1500 mg. I had spotting for 7 days. Anyone else had this issue? I'm not sure if AF is trying to happen or if it was something else. I hope to lose weight and eventually get pg by next year. I love to read about all the success stories. Congrats to all the new moms and moms to be. |

I started on 1000mg/day of Met on January 8th, and ramped it up to 1500mg about two weeks later. I was worried that it might not be working because I only lost about 5 lbs. in spite of barely eating and doing a lot more exercise, but I guess it was working after all!!
Hooray for MET! I love this stuff!!!

That is so great! Im so happy for you! Im 24 and not ttc, but this definitely gives me hope that when I am ready, I will be able to. I am on met, but its only 500mg a day. My PCOS symptoms are very mild, but they are there. Im not even close to being overweight, but I have lost 3 lbs being on it. Im just trying to tackle things early on. |

My Mood: Points: 9,910.54 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 9,910.54 | congrats on ur BFP suz!
i have a question regarding metformin during whole 9 months of pregnancy. r there women here who took met throughout their whole pregnancy and also during breastfeeding?
i have done my own research in which it says that it is good to take met during whole pregnancy cuz it not only prevents miscarriage but also prevents gastational diabetis. also, pcos reduces the production of milk, so met also improves milk supply and it is ok to take it during pregnancy.
but i will still like to hear from ladies regarding this matter.
thanks
anna

I got our very first every BFP last week. I can't even believe it We realized I was late (it's kinda hard to tell when my cycles we just getting regular ) and I didn't want to take a test and be disappointed. So I finally took a (CD40) and it was positive!!!!!
I immediately called the RE and ran up to his office for a blood test. His nurse called me a little while later and said Congrats! My Beta was 738! Now we have our first u/s coming up in a little over a week
I started Met in October 07 (1500mg) when my RE DX'd me with PCOS. Met helped me lose weight, feel better and get my BFP!!!! I plan on staying on it through out my pregnancy since it has been so good too me.

And I had gone a year or more with NO AF prior to Met. That same year, with the help of Met and walking/eating right, I lost 97 pounds. A few years later, with the help of Clomid and quitting smoking, I conceived for the first time at age 37. I conceived the following year at age 38 as well. I have yet to have a successful, full-term pregnancy, but I have hope!
