My Mood: Points: 313.78 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 313.78 | I just started Metformin today and I also just joined this website today. (I've never really talked about my PCOS with anyone because I get embarrassed.) I was a little apprehensive about starting it because of the side effects. I absolutely hate feeling "yucky"! I have a lot of extra hair on my face and started noticing that it was thickening a few months ago and hate it! I haven't had a period in 3 months and am taking Prometrium to start a period. I took my first Metformin tablet this morning and I don't feel sick just a little dizzy! I can't wait to see what my outcome is and I hope my success story turns out just as great as all of yours. Thanks for the extra info.

My Mood: Points: 172.68 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 172.68 | Hello everyone, I've been looking at alot of the posts and i saw that i am not the only one going through this. I was diagnosed with "mild" PCOS back in November 2007. I was suppose to go through with the clomid and iui treatment but ended up getting pregnant on my own in January 2008. I had a natural miscarriage in Feburary 2008 at 8weeks (blighted ovum measured at 6weeks) and I just finished on March 28th. I spoke to my doctor and she prescribed me metformin 1500mg a day which i started taking on april 1. Dr. said it shouldnt take long for me to get pregnant again and i should stay on this until i am pregnant and up to the first trimester. I am 25lbs overweight, I ovulate every month but i just have longer cycles then the average (33-37 days). My teststerone is on the high end and my prolactin is on the high end too.
I just hope that this drug and my health and exercise i will help bring my hormones back down to normal __________________

Points: 630.62 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 630.62 | HI All,
It is so good to read lots of success stories. I have been on Met for over a year now. I was on it while also in Yasmin until Oct 07. I gave up Yasmin in Oct 07 so was only taking Met - 1500mg a day. I have very irregular AF. Got AF in December and then nothing for 95 days until March 08. Then a week later got another AF....which only lasted 1 day. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I have been on 2000mg of Met since begining march.
Thanks |

DH and I were ttc for about 7 months- when I finally went in to my OB for my annual. I brought up my "issues" of long cycles (30-50 days) and such. He immediately put me on met. and then ran the bloodwork. Of course it came up posititve for PCOS. I continued on the met. and the very next month I became pg!!! I was in sheer shock since I was told to not be discouraged if it took a few months for me to regulate.
It DOES work!!! I am 9 weeks pg!!! |

I am too a thin cyster (120lbs 5'9) I don't test positive for IR but do have mild acne, mid region weight gain, cysts due to no ovulation, and super high sugar cravings. I am now at a RE and she doubts (due to my body type) that I have IR. Just wondering how you were DX. My OB is the one to DX me and put me on 1500mg of met. This is my fourth month on Met. We have been trying to get PG for 3 years.
