Almost every research article/info is geared toward fluffier cysters making it difficult to know what you are supposed to do when you are thin. This was the first article I've seen that really made sense to me. |

My Mood: Points: 3,551.83 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,551.83 | I'm glad I stumbled across this thread. I'm a new dx and I'm starting Met(alone) this week. Doing research on here turned up a LOT of bad s/e, but hardly any success stories (excluding those using met and fertility meds).
This gives me hope!

My Mood: Points: 8,800.30 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 8,800.30 | Hi my Name is Diana. I was diagnosed in June 2004 but no one seem to know anything. The first time I was diagnosed they just gave me a pamphlet on it I was so paranoid because it talked about cyst and stuff like that, things that would just make you over think. Well January 23, 2007 I was put on Met 500 apot (not sure the difference) well that was with the OBGYN, well after that my father in law recommended his ENDO for the insulin problem. He seems cool he upped my dose to 100mg twice a day since 8/30/07. I was doing clomid but it didn't help. Metformin sure helped me lose weight I have lost 50lbs and still counting. I for the first time ever had my cycle on my own but it was on 3/28/2008.....Now CD62 I have taken 3 HPT but they are all BFN..........but at least Metformin 2000mg a day has helped me with some PCOS symptoms. Weight, Facial Hair but still....working on the other symptoms...lol
Thanks
Hope to give you guys great news.......

I've been living with PCOS for over ten years and every year is harder. Ever since I turned 25, my acne has gotten worse and spread to other parts of my body. I also developed skin tags, dark skin patches, and of course weight gain. I work out four days a week, and eat salads all day, all to maybe lose a measly 2 lbs a month.
I'm really looking forward to this, and hope to be as successful as you have been. | I know this is an old thread, but I was just wondering- did it work for you?

Points: 457.28 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 457.28 | I went to my second appointment with my endo to follow up. I have been on met 500mg for 6 weeks and I lost 12 pounds and my face had kinda cleared a bit. My doc said he's keeping me on the 500 mg to avoid the worse side effects. My insuling level has gone down as well. |

My Mood: Points: 911.72 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 911.72 | First FULL cycle on Met. and I got a BFP!!!! Here is my story: I went off birth control last June as we knew we would soon want to have a baby. We decided we weren't going to try...we would just see what happens. Sometimes we were careful, other times we weren't. Did not track ovulation or chart my BBT. I never had trouble with my cycles or had no symptoms until I went off the bc. As time went on, my cycles just got longer and longer (up to 43 days)
When January came around and we were not pregnant, I went to the doc just to talk about the long cycles. I had read about PCOS but didn't believe I had it as I had no symptoms, except long cycles. At this appointment, she confirmed PCOS as per my bloodwork and ultrasound. This is when we went into FULL "trying" mode. I do everything: Clear Blue Fertility Monitor, Track my BBT, and sometimes use OPKs. My cycles were wacky. Last cycle (pre-Met) I ovulated at day 31!! Doc knew this was no good so she put me on Metformin.
Since being on Met. I ovulated at Day 23 and got pregnant in my first FULL cycle on Met! I know it doesn't work for everybody....but Met. alone did the trick for me. Despite the sickness, I stuck through and got my BFP at 12 dpo!!! |

I have a little knowledge abotu it because my cousin was diagnosed a few years ago and I though that there was no way that I would have it too! Here I am after keeping myself up all night crying and worrying and today because of you all I am feeling better. Even with a family member dealign with it (on a serious level) I felt alone and now I know where to go. I look forward to going to my next appointment now! Thank you 1000 times over! Jennifer |

I remember being devistated when I first found out... the gyno that diagnosed me didn't have very good bedside manner to say the least, and just told me you will never have kids, and this can't be cured... see ya. After doing a lot of research, I found out he wasn't correct... this website has given me much hope and comfort when needed... I hope you find the same!

My Mood: Points: 2,713.13 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,713.13 | Your so reassuring! Thank you so much for the kind words. I know that you are right. The anticipation is killing me. I was actually diagnosed by my family practitioner and I was able to get into an OBGYN on Monday. I can not hardly wait to find out how serious my case is and how far I have to go. On one hand I am hoping that the met and progesterone will save me from my struggles with weight loss as well as the nice little mustache I have started to get!! (UG) I know that God is more powerful than PCOS and so is my faith in Him so I will keep going and I feel confident that I will ahve my family!
