Question Metformin troubles

I had huge problems with metformin. At first it was ok and then it caused my pancreas to go nuts. My pancreas then caused my liver to produce huge amounts of bile which eventually blocked my common bile duct causing me to get septic. I have two questions. Am I the only one who's been through this? Also, what other meds could I use? My doc is reluctant to put me on anything.

Your doctor is trying to protect you.
You will be more seseptable now that you had a reaction.
You must be very careful from now on with anymeds you take. Especially with this kind of a reaction.

I was on Glucophage for over a year, and it was terrible. The first 6 months I threw up EVERYDAY. Usually it was the middle of the night. I stopped taking it. It didn't help me at all.
