Default Metformin and Vitamins

Well I finally got a prescription for Metformin from my Endocrinologist who can't seem to make up his mind if I have PCOS or not. Most recently yes I do so he wants me to try the Metformin for 6 months and then have my DHEAS tested to make sure it is working to lower it and see how I am feeling on it. He seems to think because I'm in menopause (surgical) that I don't need to worry about PCOS but I told him I just don't feel right and although he seems to think greasy hair, skin, acne & facial hair are no big deal they are to me. He's also sending me to a Rheumatologist to look into my Fibromyalgia symptoms which is something my GP wouldn't do (he doesn't like to do referrals) so I feel really hopeful about that too. Now that I have the prescription for Met though I am almost fearful of trying it thinking I'll be so disappointed if nothing changes however I am going to try to really do as much right as possible and keep my fingers crossed. I have many times seen on this site vitamins that you should take while you're on Met but of course now when I really need it I can't seem to find it. I wondered if someone would be willing to direct me. Thanks kindly.

A good multi vitamin with B12 and calcium is reccommended. That way you don't get depleted..Calcium helps met ladies absorb the B12 better, and that's the vitamin we seem to most often have absorption troubles with.

Hope it helps.

I'm taking 1500mg/day of Met... and I take a daily multi-vitamin, a B-complex, Chlorella, and Vitex. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you choose a GOOD QUALITY vitamin.... so you will most likely be paying more than you maybe thought, but I PROMISE you that it is worth it! PhytoPharmica is an excellent brand. My dad is a pharmacist and that is the brand he mailed me. And I feel really wonderful on them!
