Default Metformin and Vitex
I recently started taking Fertility Blend supplements which contain Agnus Castus (Vitex). I brought them with me to my acupuncture session today to see if they are ok to take alongside the chinese herbs I'm taking. My TCM practicioner said that I shouldn't take Vitex while taking Metformin because they cancel each other out, and that I should take one or the other but not both. Is that true? Has anyone else heard this?

I am not an expert, but I heard it was clomid and Vitex that cancelled each other out.

Thanks Hayley for attaching the older thread. I had the same concern because i just started taking Vitex on a suggestion from someone here on the board. I also started taking Evening Primrose Oil. From what i found on webmd there are no interactions but i was just wondering if anyone had heard anything different about the Primrose Oil.

I take met and vitex.... got AF after 40 days on it.. now i am O'ing.. so i would say it works.. or something works!!

I haven't heard that, and my doctor has OKed me taking Vitex while on Metformin. They do two different things, so I don't understand how they would cancel each other out. Now, there may be an herb in the Fertility Blend you're taking that may have this type of effect. I would take the bottle to your doctor to get his/her OK.

My doctor also said it is ok to take Vitex and Met together. I have heard thoughm, that you should NOT take Clomid and Vitex because they can cause hyperstimulation of your ovaries and cause pain, burst cysts, etc.
