Question Metformin vs Avandia??

My RE just recently put me on Avandia. I was taking Metformin about 2 years ago and it made me really sick to my stomach! I have been on Avandia for about it month and it helped me to have my period this month
Does anyone know if this can help me to get pregnant soon??

I have seen commercials for avandia that say it can cause heart attacks and strokes.. that's why my mom stopped taking it. Sorry I don't know the answer to your question though.

Are you still using it??

There was news about it - earlier this year, I think? - causing heart problems and I think a lot of doctors stopped using it, perhaps switching to Actos instead? Actos and Avandia are similar, they work to make the muscles better at using insulin... whereas met keeps the liver from releasing too much sugar which in turn keeps the pancreas from putting out too much insulin... so one type of med may work when the other doesn't...

There have been women who have gotten pregnant using just avandia or actos. I'm going to assume since you're still asking that it hasn't happened yet? Are your cycles regular since taking it? Do you know you are ovulating?

I tried Avandia for a while but gained weight on it...

Yes I am still taking it. My RE swears by it. It has made my periods normal and I am currently TTC so I am taking clomid to ovulate. I am thinking about taking a break from the clomid this month so I will use OPK to see if I can O with the Avandia alone.
