I was on 1000mgs of met but the RE switched me to 2000mgs of fortament, my glucose was 109 and insuline 26 so both came out higher than normal but not Type II. I start the fortamet tomorrow...does it give the same s/e as metformin ie bathroom issues?? What do I have to look forward to lol???

My Mood: Points: 448.48 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 448.48 | Hi, I was diagnosed with pcos three days ago and have been on Fortamet since.... Not a very long time but since starting it I have had no bathroom problems, but have reacted with itchy bumps on my right leg and my chest which usually goes away in half an hour.... Not sure if this was much help |

My Mood: Points: 448.48 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 448.48 | Actually beleive it or not I havent even had my initial bloodwork come back yet... but my dr said she is sure that I have it based on my medical Hisory and the fact that I ahve every single sympton there is... I was worried when she told me to start on the meds and i would get a call in 4 weeks with blood panel results..... USUALLY RESULTS THEN MEDS RIGHT? but I started taking it anyway and I feel great... Appetite has decreased, no urges to snack, mood is better, wake up feeling great not tired and its only been a week... so far its great, i go up to 1,000 tomorrow hopefully everything continues well.... How have you done on the Fortamet (aside from the bathroom problems ) ? |

My Mood: Points: 2,419.89 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,419.89 | Correction-- Fortamet is a brand name for extended-release metformin, which, for most people, yields fewer side effects than regular metformin. Also, unlike regular metformin, your daily extended-release dosage can be taken all at once. |
