Hi all!
I took Metformin XR 500mg tabs about 3 years ago, 2000 mg per day, conceived my daughter the 1st month as I was making my way up to 2000 mg. Before that, I hadn't had a cycle for 4 months. When I was not TTC, I had tried regular metformin and it made me so sick, so I just stuck with BCP to regulate my irregular cycles from PCOS. So we are about to TTC again, so I got a Met prescription from my OB GYN again, but she gave me the non-XR Met 850mg tab version... she says the XR is no longer recommended for PCOS. I have another call into my Dr to please give me the XR version. Help I am afraid to take this, I don't want to constantly be sick while TTC.
What versions/doses are you ladies taking? Has anyone else heard this lately? Not to take the XR version for PCOS? It worked like a charm for me last time, so I want the same one again!!
I am on 1500mg regular and have some side effects, but it gets better the slower you up the amount. And the first couple days on the uped dose can be horrible. Constant potty runs and tummy cramps. It is easier on your system the less carbs you eat though.

1500mg regular - not too bad with the side effects -- just remember to up the dosage slowly

I am happy to report finally my Dr gave in and said she'd give me what she did before that worked. Met XR 500mg tabs for the 2,000mg dose. I absolutely agree, it is much more tolerable to take up the dosage slowly.
