Default Metformin without IR?

Is anyone on metformin even though you aren't IR? I've been reading so many posts about that it's made me wonder. My labs show I'm not IR, but would my GYN give me a prescription for met anyway to help with cycles? What do you think?

I'm not IR and my endo put me on Metformin. It is very common to do for women that have been diagnosed with PCOS. He said that studies have shown that Met may help regulate your cycles and the way your body handles insulin.

Good luck to you!

Check the RESEARCH ARTICLES forum. There are a couple of articles on this very topic.

How does one go about talking a dr. into giving the Met without IR? I really feel like it would be beneficial, at least to TRY this, but my insulin levels keep coming back normal. I have the belly that just popped up over night, I usually gain & lose in my thighs, but I cannot lose that darn stomach, and I am hungry CONSTANTLY. Even though my levels are within the normal range, if there is a chance the Met could help these symptoms or my other PCOS symptoms, I'm all for trying it - but how do I get a dr. to go for it?
