Default Metformin & Wondering

I have been on Metformin since March & my doctor, nurse & I think it's been helping me lose weight a little bit.
1.When I get down to the weight im suppossed to be will the doctor take me off of it?
2.What ALL does everyone think?
3.And why?
I want to stay on it for like another year because I don't want to get diabetes & I know it can prevent people from getting it.
4.What ALL should I do?
5.Has anyone lost alot of weight being on Metformin & than their doctor taking them off of it?
6.If u have why did your doctor take u off of it?

I will never be taken off Met if I can help it. and I dont think the doctors will take you off of it even when your weight gets as low as you want it to be. Now the doctors do require you to take a lower dose If you do happen to get pregnant.

I think that, because of the way Metformin acts on your insulin, that you can get off of it eventually if you learn to eat in ways that do not spike your blood sugar. I am combining Metformin with the GI Diet (based on the idea that certain foods are better on your blood sugar than others) and have had great results. Eventually I'd like to leave the Metformin behind-- low GI diets are recommended for people with diabetes or prediabetes as a preventative measure.
