Default Metformin XR vs regular?

Has anyone noticed a big difference between the regular and extended release versions of Met? I was put on the reg version when I was diagnosed with hyperinsulinemia in 2002. I did really well, few side effects etc. I went off it when pg with DD in 2004 and didn't start up again until 2005 when DD weaned. My dr put me on the XR version. at 500mg I lost 45 lbs and did really well.

In June I had my first miscarriage and my OB upped me to 1000mg xr of the met. Since then I've gained 20 lbs back with NO changes in diet in exrcise. Almost all around my middle. I now have more cysts than I did before and I had a 2nd early mc in October. My blood sugar has also been really low! My OB switched me back to the regular met and I'm building up to 1500mg. On 1000 now. I'm really hoping this helps my insulin level out. This is crazy!

Also anything I can do to help with the gassy feeling while taking the regular met? It's been bad the last few days!
