Default Metformin and Yasmin

Has anyone been prescribed Yasmin (or any other birth control pill) and Metformin at the same time? I recently got diagnosed with PCOS and Insulin Resistance and would like to stay on Yasmin as a form of birth control.

What are your experiences on oral contraceptives and Metformin? Did this make your hormone issues better? worse?

I would LOVE to lose weight as well - and it seems like this is an issue that Yasmin has not solved for me. I'm still very rapidly gaining weight despite the amount of physical activity and regulated diet! This is why I'm considering Metformin.

I take 2000 mg of metformin and also I take the yasmine. I have no issues with them both together. I did have to stop taking the spirolactone due to headaches while on the yasmin. Unfortunatly, I started having more hair problems. I lost weight after starting on the metformin but it was a small amount. Now they have invcreased my dose to 2000 after 5 yrs of 1500 I have lost more weight. The metformin will make you have an upset stomach for the first couple weeks until you get used to it. My advice is to watch what you eat carefully and make sure you have low carb and high protien before you go to bed to keep you regulated during the night hours.
