Default Metformin and your cycle

Hi ladies,

I'm new here and hoping this is the board to post this on.

I am wondering for those of you that have had success regulating your cycles with met could tell me how long after you started the met your cycle came?

If you got pregnant on met how many cycles on met did it take?

TIA!

Default Metformin and cramps, vaginal discharge

Hi Ladies, I am new to this post. I started taking met about a week back. I was expecting AF this week. Instead I am getting abdominal cramps similar to ones when PMSing and white vaginal discharge. (In fact while sitting in the office I thought it started but when I went and checked it was just the discharge). Did anyone else have this experience? What does it mean?

I started Met 1000mg on July 5. I upped my dosage to 2000mg in September. My period came 3 days after I upped my dose and has come the beginning of every month since then!!

Good luck!

I started metaformin right after my last AF (which was four months from the one before) and yesterday, right on time, It came back with a vengence... While I am glad it came right on time (even though it was my 39th birthday)... It is rough!

ok, Ive never had normal periods, I know when I should roughly get my period but never means I actually will it sort of has a mind of its own lol. anyways, I started back on Met 500mg twice daily on Jan 22, got my AF yesterday, jan 27 and OMG its horrible right now, the craps are a nightmare Im not sure if that was the met starting it, but I think its partly the met making it so painful right now... has anyone else had this experience?

Forever ~ OMG!! Girl, I SO know what you're talking about!! I was happy to get my first period, but frustrated because I was doubled over in pain for days. I had to keep this thought in my mind: "This is all the pain saved up from not having AF for almost a year." It's hard, because we look forward to signs that our bodies are *normal* or *regular* (NOT saying there is anything wrong, but I know how I think)...and when they come we curse them.

Take a long bath, pain pills, maybe a heating pad afterwards...put your feet up, it's gonna be rough for a little while.

I started my period again in September (after doubling my dosage - 1000mg to 2000mg) and have been having it monthly since then. I've noticed the pain associated with it has lessened. Also, I started using the DivaCaup last cycle and that seemed to help with the pain as well.

Good luck!!

Took three weeks for me and have had two since I started taking it late October/early November last year. Right now, I am having the typical PMS symptoms and should be visited by AF either next week or the week after.

Thank you so much for all of your replies. I'm so excited to tell you all that my period showed up today. I hadn't had one since December 10th. I guess the met is really working! I have lost 14 lbs. in the last 3 weeks which has also been nice.

Thanks again everyone!

My schedule for met was this:

1st week- 500 mg
2nd week- 1000 mg
3rd week- 1500 mg
I started my period exactly after being on it for the third week.

Best of luck to you!

I was pretty much the same way. I started Met on 12/3/08 with the following dosage

1st week: 500 mg a day
2nd week: 1000 mg a day
3rd week: 1500 mg a day

I got my period on 12/18 after not having one since October 08. I also had one right on time on 1/15. Don't know if this is a recurring trend, but I'm remaining hopeful.
