Does anyone in the area have any experience with Georgia reproductive specialist? Do they treat you if you are not trying to conceive? or Alliance OBGYN Dr. Elbridge Bills? Both of these are on the refered Drs list. I don't know whether I should go to the OBGYN or RE. These are also the Dr's that take my insurance. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Dr. Perloe is in Atlanta and does chats on TCOYF.com and posts on ivillage.com. I have NO experience with this Dr, but his name seems to keep popping up places!
Why don't you check out his posts in those places, as well as on ivf.com (his website) and see if you like what he has to say?
I HAVE A CONSULATION WITH DR PERLOE NEXT WEEK. I LIVE IN LITHONIA,GA I'M 31 YEARS OLD AND HAVE PCOS AND INSULIN RESISTANT. I HOPE DR PRELOE CAN HELP I WAS GOING TO EMORY SPECIALIST AND MY SPECILAIST WAS DR. CECLIA DOMINGUEZ. SHE WAS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY AND NOT HELPING ME OUT.
My Endo in Atlanta is Dr. Lisa Hasty. I'm not easy to please, being in the profession myself, but she knocked my socks off with her knowledge of the disorder, pleasant manner, and optimism. I can't really say enough positive about her at this point!
Of course I did have one negative experience but that was with one of her nurses - in a phone call, where this nurse told me that they had a new "rule" that anyone on Gluc. have a blood test monthly (they must be nuts). My response to that was that there was no way someone that would be on gluc long term could take monthly blood tests! Her response was the "most" of the patients they had on Gluc were on it "until they conceived" and then went off Gluc. I don't know what anyone else thinks, but that made me see red - the assumption she was making seemed to be that pcos was not worth treating short of it's fertility effects... at least that was the underlying message. I think I'm well worth treating despite my decision to avoid the baby track (LOL).
This was a nurse there, however, and I did not get the feeling from Dr. Hasty that she shared that (unspoken) opinion in any way - she knew very well that I wasn't wanting children and has been more than helpful in changing my body into a more functioning unit. I've lost 35 lbs since January on Gluc (I wish it would move faster, but...) and I've had 6 AF (I hate all these abbreviations LOL) in a row since that time (for the very first time in my 42 years).
Her office is located in Woodstock/N. Atlanta (north 575 off north 75).

I HAVE NOT SUBMITTED ALL OF MY PAPERWORK YET. THEY NEED MY HUSBAND'S INFORMATION OFF HIS INSURANCE CARD. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY
My appointment went good they did bloodwork and an U/S. They were going to do a 2 hour glucose test but the girl that made my appointment forgot to tell me to come in fasting. when you go be fasting if they don't tell you on the phone (nothing to eat or drink after 12am the night before) I have to go back this coming friday to have the glucose test and an endometrial biopsy . I have to have the biopsy because when they were doing the U/S they said my lining in my uterus was very thick and I'm not PG so they want to test it to make sure it's not malignant. I will get my medication after i have my glucose test. Are you TTC? I'm not so if you are they may do different test. Hope that helps and let me know if you have any more questions.
Thank you for the information, yes I'm trying to conceive. Did they file this doctor's visit with your insurance? I have Cigna so I hope they will cover the u/s. I hope the testing will go good for you. Thanks for all of your information.
I have Cigna (PPO) also and all I had to pay was my $25 copay. I hope they pay for the U/S too! I have a feeling PCOS can get expensive (with the Dr's anyway) Good luck TTC and at your Dr visit.

i use ga repro specalist-reccomended by a friend who used them. right now i see Dr. Perloe- he is supposed to be an expert on PCOS- he has writen several articles on it. His wife works there as a nurse as well- His staff is WONDERFUL!!!!! so helpful and nice. Yes- he does treat PCOS without PG if that is what you want- I went to him in the begining for the same reason- just wanted some answers then latter on i decided to pursue PG. As doctors go he is much better than some others i have seen - i can say that he listens and is very knowlwedgble about the subject. i have also heard good things about DR. Silis in the same office. He does a comphrensive inital exam-bloodwork ,physical, sonogram etc..
yeah, I see Dr Perloe too. I went for my first visit 9/26 and I have to go back this friday for 2 hr glucose test and endometrial biopsy. I love his staff so far... they are so nice. I didn't know his wife works there though lol. Is insurance paying everything for you so far? Thats my main concern $$$$$.
so far yes regarding the testing etc... it also pays for the glucophage in part after my co pay. I did have to pay some to the lab about 160.00 but that was for alot of bloodwork and the bi opsy. I will tell you that ins. doesnt pay for actual fertility treatments like clomid, shots, invitro etc.. I know this because a friend went through that and it got to be expensive but luckily she got pg the first round of injections and insemination. I havent gotten to that point yet. i just started my first round of clomid which was 30$ for five day supply. Well--- what did you think of him- what did he tell you if you dont mind me being nosy.
