Default Michigan alternative medicine

Hello All,

I'm very excited to share with my fellow neighbors the news of an excellent doctor, who specializes in holistic care. He has been extremely successful at treating my body as a whole and not just the symptoms of PCOS. I highly recommend him to fellow cysters! His name is Dr. Darren Schmidt. His office is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. God Bless

Hi DanieV,
My name is Andrea and I was looking for a good doctor to help treat my PCOS I have been on a cocktail of Glucophage, Aldactone, and birthcontroll for about 5 years now. The glucophage really helped me the first few years I was taking it. It gave me energy and helped me loss weight it did not give me a period, nothing has given me a consistent period I have been on many different kinds of Birth Control and nothing seemed to help but if I stop taking it the cysts on my ovaries enlarge and start to hurt. Anyway the past few years have been very difficult I have gained weight back even though I exercise on a regular basis and I watch what I eat but it just seems to be harder and harder to loose weight or at least not gain any. By exercising I mean I take spinning classes I go bike ridding and rollerblading and swimming and use the elliptical and I just get frustrated not seeing results so it makes it even harder to be motivated to work out. I wonder what these medicines are doing to my system and I usually ask my doctors how long I have to be on the meds for my PCOS and they pretty much say forever and this really depresses me I just don\'t think it?s healthy to be on so many meds for so long. So now I am trying to find alternative meds for this. Have you had success with this Doctor? Have you ever been on glocophage or anything else? THanks for your post.

Don't know if anyone's still looking, but I have heard of a new center in East Lansing that a friend really liked before she moved. Apparently the doctor has a very good history with PCOS patients and is big on alternative medicine and open to communication/suggestions with and from patients (unlike some Doctors I have been to! ).
