Default Migraine and Weird Symptoms

I've suffered from migranes since I was in Jr. High. Last night I got one, but I had some weird symptoms with it as well. In addition to the awful pain, sensitivity to light, and mild nausea, I also felt like I was running a fever. It felt like my body couldn't regulate it's temperature, like I was hot and cold at the same time, my muscles started aching everywhere and I just felt awful all over. When I took my temeperature however, it said that it was a normal 98.5. In addition to this I was having to pee every 1/2 hour and it wasn't like when you have a UTI and you just feel like you have to pee but not much is coming out (sorry TMI). I was going every half hour as though I'd been drinking gallons of water when I hadn't. Has anyone had any of these weird symptoms with a migraine before? Any idea what could have been wrong with me?

Thanks. Def not preggo here! I did just have a thought though- I wonder if this was from sugar withdrawls. The last couple of months more and more sugar has crept back into my diet and as of Friday I pretty much cut it out all together. If that was the cause I hope the withdrawl is over because I sure felt terrible!

My migraines were always hormonally linked. I would get the hot/cold thing every time. I figured out (after a brief stint on lupron) that they were A LOT like hot flashes. It could be the sugar thing too. I have noticed since I have started eating far less processed foods that when I do eat something like that it makes me very physically ill. You would think that would be enough to make me stay away from it! DUH!

When I started getting migraines I always had the hot/cold flashes. I really thought that was normal until I asked other people about it. It was a hormonal thing and my obgyn said in hindsight it was probably the first symptom of pcos that showed itself.

I understand, my massage therapist suggested cold pack on head and warmth on feet- it helped with mine. During migraines the blood is not able to flow, the pain is so intense, this helps the nerves to be numb and the blood to flow away from your head. During my last cluster migraine it is the only thing that helped!
PS even with eliminating the sugar, try natural things like fruit, and milk to help with sugar levels.

That's interesting I always thought the hot/cold thing was normal too. I get migraines a lot as well.

My Doctor told me that they were hormonal too, I usually tend to get terrible migraines a week before I start. Hot/Cold flashes too with them.

I would guess it is more a side effect of the carb (sugar) withdrawls. I always get horrendous migraines when I go back to a low carb diet, usually around day 3 for me. I think the peeing is common with that too, and I know I always get cold for a while too. I see it has been quite a while since your original post - how did things turn out?

A doctor once told me that usually women get migraines because they need progesterone, and mens usually happen because they need testosterone. I don't know how it came up because I don't get migraines but his nurse said she used to all the time but when she feels one coming on she pops some progesterone (bio-identical prog) and it goes away. So maybe NPC would help...? I don't know, but maybe it would be worth a try.

I haven't had a migrane since that post (knock on wood). I did however find a website that was talking about frequent urination as a symptom of migrane- something about the system cleaning itself out. It had a number of other uncommon symptoms listed as well including the hot/cold flashes. I wish I had saved it. If I come across it again I will post the link.
