Default Military Spouse Cysters?

Is there a thread for military spouses? I haven't seen much info on here about Tricare coverage for PCOS and was wondering if anyone wanted to share experiences/info?

My husband is Airforce, and we're in Texas. So far it's covered all the u/s, blood work and urine tests-as well as covering my 1500mg/day of Metformin. Have you been TTC?

Yes my DH and I have been trying for 3 years and we finally got our BFP on the 22 of Oct. We (DH and myself) are both Air Force, I go to a Naval base for all of my infertility treatment. I know that if you are near Lackland you have the biggest airforce hospital right there and I think it has an infertility clinic. I'm not sure as I should be.

Congrats on your BFP!! We are in San Angelo, and have been referred to a clinic offbase for diagnosis and treatment. I just found out I had PCOS at the beginning of October, though I've suspected it for a few years. Did tricare cover your iui?

Yeah the only thing we payed for was the seman getting cleaned an that was only $110.00 everything from the injections to the actual transfer and IUI they payed for it. Hope it all works out for you. The joy i found from seeing those lines was worth everything we went through because tricare made us do the whole clomid thing first.

Wow that is so awesome! It's good to hear that they will help us take it further than Clomid if that doesn't work. Is the chance of multiples increased with IUI?

yes the chance is increased, i had 3 follies and they were all a good size. with it we had 15 million sperm count after the wash. so the chance of having 1-3 is good,my RE told me before we did it but I was ready for something new. have you went to an RE yet or are you with a GYN?

I'm currently just with a Gyno, should I be asking to see an RE? Are you in San Antonio? They asked me if I wanted to go there for my appointments or just stay local, and at the time I figured local would be fine.

If you have been ttc for 1.5 years I would ask to see an RE that can help you alot more than a GYN can see if your GYN will refer you to an RE that will be better than just going to one and Tricare will pay for it if your referred

I'm 1 too. Tir-care is okay if you can get a referral OFF BASE!. It took me 3 years to get a diagnosis at the chop shop on base. Best bet is to get a PCM off base that excepts tri-care. After we relocated that's what I'm doing.

I'm also a military spouse, and I actually live near you, Mrs.Major...I'm in VA Beach.
Tricare has been great about covering everything of mine that is PCOS related. I have yet to pay for anything. As long as you have the proper referrals, they'll cover just about anything without an issue.

I guess I will ask for a referral from my primary if a few cycles of clomid don't get me anywhere. How many should I try? I read that a lot of doctors won't use clomid for more than 6 cycles-and others won't use more than 3.

Amby1-I must have gotten lucky, our hospital is very small so I have gotten a referral for almost everything. Once I went in for testing, I was diagnosed with PCOS after 4 months. It still felt like forever, but it definitely beats 3 years!

Is anyone currently TTC?

I'm in the military as well and I have to see a regular MD unless he see's it necessary to refer me to a specialist, once i was diagnosed by a GYN I haven't been back since because I'm having a hard time getting my doc to give me a referral for other problems i'm having, such as horrible mood swings, he just keeps switching my BCP's.
