No harm done Randi, I can't remember anything anymore, I forgot the names of the people in class last night immediately after they told me, so I asked again, and almost forgot again, I felt like an idiot, but she understood. I just got off the phone with hubs, he sounds so down in the dumps, his senior cheif is being a real jerk and my DH is doing EVERYTHING including all of the cheifs works too. Poo head! Sorry for the venting, I just wish I could be there for him and I can't and I am emotional.

Mrs.Major: Looks like things have changed for me. I will be going to Portsmouth for the rest of my pregnancy, but I'll be seen in Mat/Fet Med rather than by the doctor that I had issues with before...which is good.
I think they told me I would go there as well when my RE releases me to an OB doc. They told me somewhere but I couldn't remember

Hi! I'm new to this site and this is my first post. I was AD USAF when I was diagnosed in early 2001. At the time Tricare did not cover IVI or IUI. Metformin wasn't even commonly used for PCOS yet. I was lucky that one of the docs at the OB/GYN clinic was knowledgeable and put me on Metformin. After 6 months a one round of Clomid we were successful. It is good that they cover fertility treatments now, those of you who have been diagnosed should be able to see the specialist anytime you need to with a once a year referral. My experience was that some PCMs get a bit "strange" when a patient doesn't go to them regularly, but most will be happy to let PCOS be handled by the RE or GYN. If you have a problem with getting proper referrals and adequate treatment from you PCM, you can go to your MTF's Patient Advocate. They are there for you and to ensure you receive proper care.

Yeah, I was seen there a couple times in the beginning. I actually liked a couple of the providers that I met with then. One of them was actually the straw that broke the camel's back for me, but the rest were great...nurses, NPs, MWs, and all were great. He took out his annoyance at an incompetent person there on me. Someone messed up at interpreting my medical records and bloodwork, and he spoke down to me. I don't deal well with people that speak down to me. Not. At. All. Especially when I am more versed on the topic than he is. I was uncomfortable with him anyway...He kept emphasizing what a bad idea it was for me to have children "at my age". I'm in my mid-twenties. Here I am thinking that now is the perfect time to for me have children, but that child (the "doctor" was younger than I am...or looked it at least...and I look like I'm 16). He also kept bringing up my husband's rank & how he "doesn't make enough money to support a family". That flew all over me. We have no bills. Heck, if we were E1, we could still support our family. And, we're far from E-1. That's none of his business anyway. But the thing that REALLY got me was when he made fun of my accent. I have a thick "Southern Belle-ish" accent. He informed me how uneducated it made me sound. That's when I walked out cursing. I won't be seeing him again.
Sorry for the vent. But yeah...that one dude was my biggest problem with Portsmouth. And when being seen by the regular OB department, the care was so impersonal. I know they have a lot of patients. I admit I'm used to being spoiled, but I still think every patient deserves individual attention when it comes to their appointment time. I hate it when I get the "protocol" speech...I'm not like everyone else. I hate that they have stupid "protocol" on how they handle certain things rather than catering to each patient...but I'll deal. Can't complain TOO much when everything is free, ya know?
I would have stormed out of that office as well! What a jerk! He had no right to tell you if you and your husband were ready to have children-financially or otherwise. I can't believe that he was talking about your accent either. Did you file a complaint about him?

My accent has never really been misunderstood. I just have a very high pitched voice...I sometimes sound like I just walked out of Gone With the Wind. I get a little peeved sometimes when people tell me my accent is "cute"...but they don't mean anything by it...but since when does having a Southern accent mean you're unintelligent? Ya know? Yeah...if they try to make me see him again, I'll leave.
Hey, everyone im a Navy wife and we just got transferred to Tampa... The whole tri-care thing gas since become extremly confusing. Originally we were in San Diego and all I knew was everything was covered and I wasnt even Prime then. But then I get here and go back Prime and they tell me that Tricare doesnt cover any infertility treatments it even says so in the handbook... I'm confused because how does it cover in San Diego and I have a friend in VA too it covers there, but not Tampa? I'm seeing an RE off base and although I'm prime I pay $9 each for femara and ovidrel... I take my ovidrel tonight and then its bding and the dreaded 2ww, if this doesnt go well I wanna go straight to iui, but I have no idea what the cost is... Does anyone know?
Thanks for your concern Nirish. My husband has two friends stationed in Ft. Hood and we were very relieved to find that they were alright. One was in the building where the shooting happened...I can't even imagine.

Tricare is set up in regions and is handled by "different" standards in each region, so I was told when we moved from TX to PA. And I'm being seen by a RE, which is covered through Tricare, even in the South. It is what you might want to look into.
Different offices charge different amounts for IUI's, the RE I go to charges $150.. others cost anywhere from that to $300.
If you get a prescription for a larger quantity, you can send it into the mail order pharmacy and it shouldn't cost you anything.
Good luck with the 2ww!!

harvmj- i hate the whole region thing because military is military no matter where they go and still they fight and protect our country so we should have the same quality health care no matter where we go... but thats just my opinion...
tami- i totally understand what you mean... try being apart for a whole year... im sure you know what i mean....
and i did my ovidrel injection so yes we are definetly praying we catch this egg. Im so confident its gonna happen so I'm trying not to worry but 2weeks is a long time to wait to find out.... and i was wondering is it 2 weeks after the shot or 2 weeks after the 36hrs it takes to actually ovulate?
im already starting to get antsy...
