Default mimic effects of metformin w/ exercise?

so I've really been delving into this site. you guys are so awesome w/ how supportive you are to each other and how much info you provide! I only wish I found this months ago!!! And thanks to those who answered my last post! I just want to double check to make sure im def. on right track..

from what Ive read, (since I am not prescribed metformin anymore but really want the weight loss, less hunger that went w/ it)

can I recreate the effects of metformin by

following a lowish carb / high protein diet

and

exercising/ strength training?


Right or am I missing some key elements?

Klalder, that sounds like a good plan. My Doc told me that large muscle mass exercise (think something that moves your major muscles) can help in fighting insulin resistance, just like Met helps in IR. This includes both cardio, like brisk walking or jogging, etc and weight lifting. Limiting the amount of carbs you take in will also enable your body to better handle the sugar load (less to deal with, if you are IR). Good Luck! Dianna
