I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting this here.
I wanted to share with you ladies, since they made such a HUGE impact in my life with one small thing a group called 'Minutes of Gold'. Their website is
http://www.cm-inc.com/mog/
Minutes of Gold is a non-profit organization that makes and provides clothing, layette sets for preemie babies that don't make it.
Their website says:
Minutes of Gold volunteers have been making infant bereavement garments for fetal demise and donating these items to hospitals since 1992. The nurses have the challenge of presenting these tiny babies to their grieving families. Without the gifts that the volunteers provide, there would be nothing suitable, available for this purpose. The layettes consist of a gown, hat, diaper, blanket and crocheted roses that match, and a gift poem card. that reads:
Please accept this layette,
And know that we care
For into each stitch,
We’ve tucked in a prayer
That God will be with you,
for He sent us to you,
to dress His new angel
In something special and new

When we lost Christopher just the simple fact that there was something for him to wear is something that I will remember and cherish for the rest of my life. Were it not for this group all we would have had was a hat that was way too big, and a delivery blanket the hospital had. Dressing our beloved just wasn't something that would have occurred to us, until we regretted it later. I will always cherish the items I have, knowing that Chris was in them, even if it was just for a short while. Also, the pictures the hospital took were taken while Chris was in the outfit they provided.
Any hospital can request the clothing, layette sets, free of charge. All the hospital has to do is ask.
If your hospital did not or does not have anything in place like this you might consider asking, even if you aren't sure if they do. It is a small thing that has a huge, remarkable impact.
I wish items like this simply were not needed, and no one ever lost a child, but sadly they are. I pray that no one here has a need for these either, but I see it as my duty to spread the word about them because how much it meant to me.
