Mirena Girls - How Do You Know When To Get It Changed?
hi
as you may know, Ive had my Mirena 2 and a half years. These last few months, my periods are getting longer - 10 / 12 days. The pain is stronger (not as bad as 3 years ago), but still more that when I first had my Mirena. And heavier (again not as bad as a few years back).
My question is - in your experience do you think I need to get my Mirena changed? Or is this a co-insidence? The earliest appointment I could get with my gp was 20 July.
Have you started any new or different medications the same last few months? Mirena (or any progestin-only birth control) does not always (or even often) stop ovulation, thus it may not truly regulate you or shorten AF like bcp--especially if you're on drugs that mess w/ AF like spiro, etc. You might make an appointment to do U/S & make sure it's still where it needs to be and hasn't perforated anything. Then, if your doc feels it's time for a new one, he can do that too.

Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.
hi guinea pig,
thanks for the info. I am on Spiro right now, so that might have something to do with it......... am seeing my dr near the end of the month.
